Topic: some days

At the risk of seemingly  plagiarizing the chords of the   Marshall Tucker song Can't You See - I wrote this song this morning.

If I was smart enough or knew enough about music I could have probably used some other chord progression I guess.

However, they are easy chords for me to play and my words fit pretty good into the progression so here it is anyways.  I'm pretty sure there a bunch of songs out there that have borrowed the same progressions from others smile

[song]
{t: Some Days}

[A]Some days I’m so  happy
Some [G]days I feel so  blue
I can’t [D]take life too   serious
Cuz I’m [A]only passing through

[A]Oh I’ve drifted in good times
close to  [G] drowning in the bad
Tried to[D] walk the straight and narrow,
But it  [A] only  made me sad

Chorus
[A]oh some days, Oh some [G[days , Oh some [D]days
can’t find  a [A] friend
[A]oh some days, Oh some [G[days , Oh some [D]days, I
never want to[A] end

[A] I’m old enough to die now
but I [G]think I’ll hang around
still so [D] much I want to  do
‘fore they [A] put me in the ground

[A]Some days I’ve got everything
Some [G]days are a total loss
Oh I’ve [D]seen  the river Jordan,
but I [A] ain’t ready to cross

Chorus

[A]oh some days, Oh some [G[days , Oh some [D]days
can’t find  a [A] friend
[A]oh some days, Oh some [G[days , Oh some [D]days, I
never want to[A] end

Re: some days

TIGLJK t the words are great and I can hear the chords in my head and like them too. Nicely done.

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

Re: some days

Tig I like that line in your song, "Oh I’ve seen  the river Jordan, but I  ain’t ready to cross"

Great song I look forward to hearing it.  You  are free to use any chords progression it's the melody and arrangement  you can't copy I think.

Re: some days

Good songs and the poetry that goes with them make you think and get emotional.    TIGLJK  lets us experience both of these. It is an honor for me to be a member of Chordie  and to be able to read what he does as well as some other too.

You been readin' my mail, boy? smile smile

How you continually come up with words that hang together to create feelings is beyond me, but I really like this  one and see me in all of it. I agree with the "River of Jordan" line as well. Congratulations, Jim! Maybe we'll get to hear another hit on SoundCloud. (HINT*HINT)

Re: some days

Another beauty, TIG ... you certainly have a song-writer's golden touch. Well done, sir!

Re: some days

Hi Jim.

Just had my first look and listen....certainly up to your usual high standard. I think there's a lot of sentiments in there that we older folks can identify with. I don't think it's complete though? Have you thought about a middle eight/bridge?

A thinking man's song....great.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: some days

LOL Phill

you must have forgotten who you were talking to.  I don't have any idea what a middle  eight/ bridge even is, never mind put one in. smile smile smile

It sounds really cool thought so please add it !  I have come to know anything you do to songs makes a huge improvement.

Thanks for the kind words.  A very Happy New Year to you.

Jim

Re: some days

TIG I was impressed by the  smooth and cool the way you did  "Some Days" on soundcloud.
A very Happy New Year to all Chordies and your families.

Re: some days

Comment left on SoundCloud, Jim, but  as I have already written, I think it's an awesome tune!

Re: some days

TIG
excellent performance of this song, glad to see you gave the song space.
your guitar had a chance to be heard & the phrasing is excellent also.
With the above i think it felt more natural for you and gave you confidence in your vocal.
I`m no expert or musician, but as a listener this felt like a big step forward for you.
I`m pretty sure you won`t be knocking your own performance anymore.
go you good thing!
