Topic: The Remembered Song

I wrote this the other night. I was remembering how a could song take me back to the time when music was just music, and not a time machine.

The Remembered Song Jeff Gilpin

2/4/2019

Intro

Am Bm Am Bm D G Em Am Bm

Verse 1

[Am]Today, I remembered a song from the [Bm]radio.

[Am]Used to listen to long ago, I [Bm]knew.

[D]Back when time moved kind of [G]slow, [Em]

And [Am]I knew less about what now I [Bm]do.

Chorus

[Em]Ah but now

Looking [G]back,

At [Am]what I gained,

what I [Bm]lacked.

[Em]I didn’t know;

I didn’t [G]care.

[Am]Time so fleeting

Me una[D]ware. [D7]

Verse 2

And it stirred something in me.

The song it made me feel,

But I didn’t know those feelings

Were all just as real, way back then.

chorus

Verse 3

Back then, finding my way in life

Down a path leading who knew where,

Sorrow, happiness or some delight,

A broken heart, and trying not to care.

chorus

fade on the last Bm

Yes Jeff, we've all been there. Love the flow of your words, and let us know when it's on YouTube or wherever so we can hear it.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The Remembered Song

Very good, Jeff ... it does make a guy long for simpler times and clearer lines. Everything seems so dang botched up these days!

Re: The Remembered Song

jets60  A song that makes us think about a time when songs meant so much and it made us all think about the meaning of each. Nice work  on this one.

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

Re: The Remembered Song

Thanks you all. Phill - I will try and get this up on sound cloud soon.

Re: The Remembered Song

Jeff I love the way your song tells it real good  about those songs that take us back to our younger days. Your laid back style is magic to the ears.

Re: The Remembered Song

Jeff
That is some nice playing there - very "velvety"      ( i may have just made that word up- Where is our English expert Strummerboy Bill when we need him ? smile)    Your playing and voice meld together so nicely - it just seems so comfortable and smooth !

Very nice.
Thanks for sharing
