Topic: The Perfect Place (what you think you get from opioids!)

the perfect place By JimKenyon

[Am] I had a dream last night ,I needed [Em]shelter from a [Am]storm

[Am]I was searching for a place that could [Em]keep me safe and [Am]warm

[Dm]then a stranger appeared and gently looked upon my [Am]face

for a [Em]price she whispered , she'd take me to the perfect [Am]place

.

[Am]I saw myself drifting on a [Em]ship roaming an ageless [Am]sea

[Am]whitecaps all around and the [Em] wind blowing wild and [Am]free

[Dm]The stranger swore the trip would ease my heart[Am]aches

and for a [Em]price she whispered, she'd take me to the perfect [Am]place

.

chorus

she told me [F] no more hopes and dreams would change to[Am] fears

no more [F]drowning every night in my own[Am] tears

she posed[F]“would it be too much to ask to live without this [Am]pain ?”

but you've [Em]gotta give something up for everything you [Am]gain

.

[Am]I saw a faded orchard, where the [Em]wild honeysuckle [Am]grows

[Am] Sweetness hidden in shadows, and [Em]secrets that no one [Am]knows

[Dm]the stranger took me by the hand saying let me ease your [Am]cares

for a [Em]price she whispered, this place answers all your [Am]prayers

.

[Am] I woke up wondering about the [Em]meaning of this strange, strange [Am]dream

[Am]the answer gets clearer when I [Em] stir my coffee with co[Am]deine

[Dm]Ikeep pretending and waiting to end of this living [Am]Hell

there's a [Em]price she said, but what it was she wouldn't [Am] tell

chorus

she said [F] no more hopes and dreams would change to[Am] fears

no more [F]drowning every night on my pillow in my own[Am] tears

she posed[F]“would it be too much to ask to live without this [Am]pain ?”

but you've [Em]gotta give something up for everything you [Am]gain

yeah, you've [Em]gotta give something up for everything you [Am]gain

yeah, you've [Em]gotta give something up for everything you [Am]gain

Holy daytrips batman! You've hit the nail on the head there Jim, hope your not speaking from experience? Great imagery almost lapsing into classic. Not an easy one to sing I'd wager?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The Perfect Place (what you think you get from opioids!)

Thanks Phill
Nah - never touch the stuff.
Just seen too much of it - and a friend had it happen to their son.

Lol about the singing -  there is no song easy for me to sing smile  !
I'm not sure this is a final version - when I sing it in my head it sounds nothing like those chords when I play it.  We'll see what happens - a work in progress.

Thanks for giving it a look

Great   song  Jim  on a  subject  as  you  know  very  close  to  my  heart.

Re: The Perfect Place (what you think you get from opioids!)

Thanks Graham

I just finished re working it a bit to make the lyrics fit better.

I think it is about as good as I'm able to do.

Feel free to take a shot at it - make any changes that you think it needs.
As you and all on chordie know, I'm a writer not a musician.
.

Thanks for the kind words
