Topic: Pick Out a Little Tune

I wrote this one last year but finally got around to recording. It's a simple fingerpick song.

Pick Out a Little Tune by Jeff Gilpin

~

The [G]rooms a mess

[D] But I’m not in a

[C]Cleaning up kind of mood

I’m [F]sure I’ll feel

More moti[C]vated

If I [D]kick that can down the [D7]road

[G]Motivated to…

[D] I don’t know

To do [C]something

[F]Something

[C]Anything

Or no[G]thing

~

I [Em]pick up the guitar

[Am]Pick out a little tune

[F]See where she [D]takes me

~

Solo on verse chords

~

So I [G]pick a little

[D]Decide that I’ll

[C]Get her in tune

[F]Why does it seem

Some [C]strings like to

[D]Stray a little [D7]out

[G]Kind of like me

[D]I can fall

[C]Into a bit of a funk

[F]And I sulk

For a [C]little

Then look a[G]round and I

~

I [Em]pick up the guitar

[Am]Pick out a little tune

[F]See where she takes me [D] [Em] [Am] [F] [C] [G]

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

Jeff I like these words in your song very clever.

Why does it seem

Some strings like to

Stray a little out

Kind of like me

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

Thanks Pete!

Jeff  Picking up the guitar is always stress relieving for me - even if I m not very good at it.  It's like your lyric says - it often takes yourself somewhere.  Thanks for sharing ! Nice work .   Jim

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

Your song begs the question...this was my day, tell me about yours? Looks good, I'll give it a listen later tonight.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

Thanks, Phill - Hope you like it

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

you sure can write the laid back songs. I can imagine you reclining in your hammock on a sunny day picking away and singing back at the yard birds

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Pick Out a Little Tune

Thanks, Phill - For now, I'm just reclining in my comfy chair in my cozy warm house, on a cool January day. I was singing to snowflakes that day if memory serves. Thanks for the warm image to look forward to, not so far off in the future.
