But [Dm7]I still play his songs
Something a[F]bout them tugs my heartstrings
Leaves me [C]feeling twice as strong

This old [Dm7]world makes me weary
[Dm7]All the stuff going on
So I es[F]cape some to his music
And [C]suddenly all my weariness is [Dm7]gone

Now I [G]know his voice is not for [Dm7]everyone
For [C]some I know it might have too much [Dm7]twang
But [G]he just talks to me through the [Dm7]words that he wrote

Things I [F]think on, but his guitar
Drives his [C]words home or so it seems

So playing [Dm7]Towens may get me down

Not [F]quite as much as he went through
But I [C]kind of understand just the [Dm7]same
