I wrote this song this morning, hope you like it
Let me know if you have suggestions for improvement.

What Love Can’t Do By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

[C] Oh, the writing was there, [Am]right on the wall

But [F]who would ever think that [G]love could fall

[C]There was a time, yeah,[Am] there was a time

That [F] I was yours, and baby, [G]you were mine

.

Verse 2

oh,[C] the passion was hot, but our [Am]hearts grew cold

we [F]never thought that love could [G] ever grow old

we were [C]young and wild, full of [Am]foolish dreams

now [F] it's like we're falling apart [G]at the seams

.

Chorus

.

[F]if only we could forget the hard times we’ve had

and [C]get through the worst, take the good from the bad

but [F] words aren't enough, as we're finding so true

it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

.

Verse 3

[C]oh, you don't think it'll come, can’t im[Am]agine the day

You [F] can’t know how you’ll feel, or [G]what you’ll say

yeah we [C] started a fire, that's grown to a[Am] raging storm

and now we’re[F] feeling lonely instead of[G] safe and warm

.

Verse 4

.

[C] oh, we looked for sunshine but all we[Am] got was rain

yeah we[F] ached for laughter but all we [G] felt was pain

we were [C] chasing a love we thought would [Am]never end

but now we [F] only have hearts that we can't [G]seem to mend

.

Chorus

.

[F]if only we could forget the hard times we’ve had

[C]get through the worst, and take the good from the bad

but [F] words aren't enough, as we're finding so true

it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

yeah, it’ such a[G] shame to find out just [F]what love can’t [C]do

Trevor,
Thanks - retirement is good - getting used to it .
It actually is still a work in progress.  - not where I feel it is complete yet - lots of tweaking to go.  Usually wait til guys/ girls on here that actually know something about music smile give me their feedback.

Jandle  - Thanks Jan - I need to write a happy one soon ! smile
also - thanks for bringing back SOM !!
Jeff - Thanks for the kind words.

Re: What Love Can't Do

OK  as I said earlier - this song was a work in progress

I went through this morning and made quite a few changes.
I changed chords and lyrics - I think it is much better and the music " fits better".

Let me know what you think - thanks
