Topic: an opinion needed

This is a song I have really been reworking.

The first chorus is one in which im trying to find the best final line out of the 5 at the end of Chorus A  so any opinions will be welcome.
You will see that each chorus builds ainto the arc of the song,

V1
E                                                  D
Where do you run when you need to hide
C                                        D
Where do you sleep so you won’t die?
E                                                            D
Where do you turn when you need to cry?
C                                                      D
Who do you reach for when your tears run dry?

Chorus A
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
Does their light light still shine when truth sets in?
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
1 Do you face what’s left, and try to defend?
2  Do you look within, or try to defend?
3  Do you close your eyes, or try to defend?
4  Do you stand your ground, or try to defend?
5  Do you step aside, or try to defend?

Were they bulletproof, or did they use a gun?

Just to hear your voice pulls me out of this dive.
E                                                  D
Come back to me from wherever you are,

Let your spirit sing through my guitar.

B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
All that’s left is what they gave to you.
