Topic: "Donna, My Little Girl"

On seeing Jeff Gilpin's song "I'll Never Get Tired Of You" to his daughter and suggesting that he record it for her I realised that I should do the same for mine. Obviously Jeff's message was not the one I wanted to send to Donna but there was a lot in it that was suitable. Jeff's style of music is also different to mine so quite a radical adaptation took place and this is the result. Thank you Jeff for allowing me to rework your song. I hope you like it.

Recorded as usual on:  http://www.myspace.com/rogerguppy

Donna, My Little GirlWords and Music Jeff Gilpin

Adapted and arranged by Roger Guppy

Intro:

[G][Bm][C][D]

.

.

[G]There's not a thing I would [Bm]not do,

[C]To try to take care of [D]you,

[G]No matter what you want at [Bm]all,

[C]All you need to do is [D]call,

[C]No job you wish would [D]be too tall,

[G]Just let me help you [Em]through it all;

[C]Do[D]nna, my little [G]girl.[D]

.

.

[G]I know there's years we were a[Bm]part,

[C]That awful time just [D]broke my heart,

[G]Things we said got took [Bm]wrongly,

[C]Because you are so [D]much like me,

[C]But that's in the past now [D]happily,

[G]Things are now as they should [Em]be;

[C]Do[D]nna, my little [G]girl.[D]

.

.

[G]You will always be my [Bm]little girl,

[C]With your shy smile and your [D]curls,

[G]I would give you [Bm]all that I own,

[C]So do not feel sad [D]in your home,

[C]You are never comp[D]letely alone,

[G]I am always at the [Em]end of the phone;

[C]Do[D]nna, my little [G]girl.[D]

.

.

[G]But you are so very far a[Bm]way,

[C]And though we talked the [D]other day,

[G]I could not find words to [Bm]say to you,

[C]I don't like being so [D]far from you,

[C]one thing I know will [D]always be true,

[G]I will never stop [Em]loving you;

[C]Do[D]nna, my little [G]girl.[G]

Re: "Donna, My Little Girl"

Thank you Old Doll, Jeff and Daddycool,

Helena I am sure that you and your sisters were all Daddies Girls and you do of course have two smashing Mummy's Boys of you own now.

Jeff to make a good cake you need good ingredients. You supplied the ingredients I just did the mixing and baking. Thank you.

Daddycool, if my little offering here will help you to learn Bm then I am well pleased.

Re: "Donna, My Little Girl"

Hi Roger
A lovely song. Enjoyed playing it immensely.
I have a grown daughter living it seems far away so it certainly struck a Chord with me.

Well done

Regards
