Topic: another untitled set of lyrycs....

the first verse i've had for a while, the others i just threw together in the last few minutes. I'm thinking about using the last verse as a chorus, any ideas anybody??

well its the same old cliches
told a thousand ways
and you feel like just one more song
about bad luck and hard times
paid dues and crossed lines
and real good intentions gone wrong

you've seen it before
just another closed door
and a sign that says 'do not disturb'
another step back
white lies dressed in black
a child that was seen and not heard

the sound of the train
and the smell of the rain
stirs up that old ramblin' bone
the wind moans your blues
the road wears your shoes
and you can't ever find your way home

hop another train
self medicate the pain
look back at where you should have been
the cycle won't stop
till the bubble has popped
and you face the real world again

Hey last rebel. i like the second to the last verus as a chorus. seems a little more catchier. what type of chords where you thinking of putting with this?

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

hmm.... yeah you know what I think you might be right. as for chords i'm not sure yet. something very acousticy but i don't think so much country as alot of my songs. i'm thinking kind of an acoustic rock feel??

I played it in a 145 riff in E. kinda like Dwight yoakums honky tonk man. just a thought

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

I like 'em, wouldn' hurt your feelings if i trimmed em a little to fit the structure would it? something like

but you just keep going
cuz you know nothing
is free and theres nothing we can't beat
gotta keep your faith in the rain
to see the sun shine again
and hope the next train brings the world to our feet

or anyway something like that

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

How about a basic chord progression (I IV V or something like that) but power chords instead? They sound great on an acoustic.

Play this on an acoustic and you'll see what I mean about the sound.

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

Don't venture in here very often, last_rebel, but jeez I'm glad I did today. You're on a roll. Keep it up. Brilliant stuff.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

Just realised something: these lyrics are in a similar style to Less Than Jake.
Have a look for "Look What Happened", "Hell Looks a Lot Like LA", "Scott Farcas Takes It on the Chin" and "Al's War".

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

well this song could be pulled in more than one direction, so I'm thinking the best thing is to blend! maybe an acousticy slidey intro, into heavier chords, but at a steady rolling pace...

something like

l-----------------------------
l------------------------------
l------------------------------
l--------0- 2---2--2--2-2-2--
l-2/4/2----2---2--2--2-2-2--
l-----------0---0--0--0-0-0--

then you know up, then back, then down, then back...
whatcha think tibernius?

Re: another untitled set of lyrycs....

Sounds good (well looks good, I don't have my guitar at the moment). The section you've posted is a bit like the song in the link I posted.

Are you going to tab a solo for this as well?

I                    IV             V
l-x                           l-x                      l-x
l-x                           l-x                      l-x
l-x                           l-2                      l-x
l-2                           l-2                      l-1
l-2                           l-0                      l-2
l-0                           l-x                      l-x

Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.

I'm not sure which one to use as the chorus, its between these two right now:
      IV                                  I
the sound of the trainand the smell of the rain
                                      V
stirs up that old ramblin' bone
      IV
the wind moans your blues
      I
the road wears your shoes
                            V                     I
and you can't ever find your way home

AND

hop another train
self medicate the pain
look back at where you should have been
the cycle won't stop
till the bubble has popped
and you face the real world again

Im also considering doing the verses in sets of two, then go to chorus.

but whichever one it ends up being the chords will be as shown on chorus... as for tabbing a solo that will take me some time to work one out. (thats always the hard part for me), but I'll try to come up with something. And yeah I looked up that song, i'm not really familiar with the band, they're some kind of rock music?? The lyrycs were good anyway....

Do you mean Lostprophets or Less Than Jake?

Lostprophets are Alternative Rock/Nu-Metal, and they're from Pontypridd in Wales. One of my favourite bands.

Less Than Jake are Ska/Punk-Rock, from Gainsville, Florida. Another of my favourite bands.

I'll try this song tomorrow, it'll make a nice change from all of the Green Day songs I've been playing.

@last_rebel: If you check this website:

http://www.whatson.com/kerrang/

There's a live acoustic version of the song I posted the link to.
Scroll down on the right-hand section until you find "Live & Lowkey". The song is listed there.
