Topic: Emotional Music

A friend of mine listened to my song Grey Skies and she said it made her sad because she likes blue skies. Well I thought about that for a bit and wrote this song in response. I hope you all like it.

December 17th, 2007

Intro

[G]x4

[G]Singing a sad song

[A]On a happy day

[D]Doesn’t make me sad

It [G]makes me want to play

So [G]if you hear a sad song

Don’t [A]let it bring you down

[D]Listen until you’re happy

Or at [C]least ‘til you come around

[F7]Don’t let [C]sad songs bring you [G]down [G7]

[E7]It’s just a song not the end of the world

So [Am]hold on and ride it through

[E7]It can’t take you anywhere or make you

Feel [D]any which a way un[F7]less that’s where you want to go to[C]day [D] [G]

[G]Singing a happy song

[A]When I’m all fired up

[D]Sometimes calms me down

[G]Or makes me erupt

[G]Calming down getting riled

Don’t [A]make no never mind

E[D]ventually I’ll run out of steam

[C]Giving enough time

So [F7]hold on and [C]give me some [G]time [G7]

[E7]It’s just a song not the end of the world

So [Am]hold on and ride it through

[E7]It can’t take you anywhere or make you

Feel [D]any which a way un[F7]less that’s where you want to go to[C]day [D] [G]

So [G]go play them all

Let [A]go of your fear

E[D]motional music

Will [G]get your head clear

Ro[G]mantic or funny

[A]Happy or sad

[D]All of the music

[C]You won’t be mad

[F7]Listen to it [C]all and be [G]glad [G7]

[E7]It’s just a song not the end of the world

So [Am]hold on and ride it through

[E7]It can’t take you anywhere or make you

Feel [D]any which a way un[F7]less that’s where you want to go to[C]day [D] [G]

Re: Emotional Music

Lovely Jets.
Thats what i love about music! The emotions it brings along with it.
On the first chord of some tunes, i can dissolve into tears. On others my heart sings along. Music is wonderful, all pictures in my mind. some happy
others sad. Places /times/ people/ making love/ having my babies/ Deaths/Holidays.
All Kinds of life celebrations. But all Good.

Thanks Jets.

Re: Emotional Music

Another good idea for a song jets big_smile I think maybe you're right about how we shouldn't let music affect the way we feel...... but if you put 'tuesday's gone' on i'll cry like a baby no matter how many times I listen to it....

All You Need is Love smile

Re: Emotional Music

Re: Emotional Music

Hi Jeff,

Good song with a nice use of chords a great one to finger pick to.

Odd ball me has always liked sad songs though, probably as more emotion is conveyed in a sad one that a happy one. That being said I am a happy chappie even when singing such a sad song that I have tears running down my cheeks.

Well done,

Roger

Re: Emotional Music

Hey you Guys - Thanks - I feel the same. Sometimes I want to play sad music because I'm sad other times I want to play it because I'm happy and just like the tune....Bell Bottom Blues is a great example of both...Working Class Hero is another song I like to play no matter what mood I'm in. Now Emotional Music is not a sad song but I kind of play it like a bluegrass tune and a little upbeat. Yep, Roger, it's a good finger picking song too and it makes me wish I could play the banjo.  smile
