Topic: "Amsterdam"

This came about from a trip to Amsterdam last August. It was my first real holiday away from home with some mates, and it came about from just enjoying the relaxed way of life in Amsterdam!

I've fiddled about with the lyrics for ages, and i'm still not satisfied with them, but what the hell.

n.b. - Just a note - I had my pinky finger amputated after an accident as a kid, so as a general rule, I can only use basic chords for 3 fingers!!!

Here goes, and, its my first ever completed song, so be nice!!!

{Amsterdam}

[D]We're here, [A]down in Amsterdam.
[Em]No-one comes near, [G]they don't understand. [Cadd9]

[G]I don't care, [G/F#]what they think,
Or i'd [G/B]share a drink with [Cadd9]them.

[G]But we're here, [D]down in Amster[G]dam.

[Am] [Bm] [Fmaj7] [C]
[Am] [Bm][G] [D] [G]

[D]There's rolling fields, [A]but they don't interest us.
[Em]Do we use to wheels, [G]or do we get the bus?

[D]The street lights all turn red, [A]and they air turns green.
[Em]But its all in my head, [G]you know what I mean? [Cadd9]

[G]I don't know, [G/F#]I don't care,
[G/B]What others think of, [Cadd9]how i fare,

[G]But we're here, [D]down in Amster[G]dam.

[Am] [Bm] [C] [E]
[Am] [Bm] [G] [D] [G]

[G]Yeah, we're here, [D]down in Amster[G]dam.

[G] [D] [G]

EDIT: I can't seem to get the formatting thing to work, sorry!!

Re: "Amsterdam"

Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.

There you go, you just needed to put square brackets around the word 'song' and again at the end around '/song'
cool

I'm the son of rage and love

Re: "Amsterdam"

Barlow2711,

Dont you just live Amsterdam?. I been going there 30 years.
My brother in law is Dutch. A Gentleman, none finer.
While the Red light District is a sight to behold. there is so much more.

Next time your there try walking the beach at Egmund. Then have cinnamon tea with Waffles cherry preserve and cream. Yum.

Or Volendam. Beautiful seaside with old Dutch ships. Steeped in history.
The best fresh Calamares ive ever tasted.
Or Try sleeping in a lighthouse. Amazin! or
Floral Extravagansa right in the heart of the city. I could keep writing here.
Double decker trains. Great fun.

Thanks for posting.  And sure Bonedaddy is another Gent. He made your song all purdy!

Old Doll.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: "Amsterdam"

Cool song, Barlow.

Sounds like you sampled some of the local culture there!

I'm still having trouble with some of those chords, and I have all of my fingers.

(Oldnewbie pounds his head on his desk, muttering to himself...)

Just play

Re: "Amsterdam"

Hi Barlow 2711,

Someone else I see who likes to use a lot of chords. Nice song. Although I have never been to Amsterdam but I have heard that the they do an interesting line in cakes in certain quarters.
