Topic: how do u read the way to play on here?

ok this might sound kinda dumb but im brand new here and it very confusing on how to play wut is writen, do the numbers on the likes tell wut fret to hold? are the lines actually the strings?
to me its very confusing. but also know im pretty knew to playing the guitar. so i just need a little help.

I'll try to make this as simple as possible so you can understand it ... this is what the lines represent (which are the strings) from the high "e" string to the low "E" string

Numbers on the lines (strings) represent what Fret you're playing:

------------------------         =      D)---------------------- 
------------------------                  A)----------------------

-----0--------      "0" is an open string being played

Numbers together like above mean the strings are played all at once ... when they are staggered like below, they are played individually:
