Topic: Momma I Love You

Hello everybody.I am new here so I joust want to say thanks to the owners of this great site. Being in my mid fifties I lost the passion of song writing a long time ago and have been trying to get it back.Chordie is the perfect platform so again.....My Hats Off
This song I wrote back in the mid seventies for my Mom.We just lost her last year and on her last night I was lucky enough to sing it to her one last time.

                     Momma I Love You
     C                                    Em
I thank you for my life and I thank you for your love.
    Am                                           G        G7
I thank you for your time and your patience.
     C                                                            Em
I know now that the times were hard but you always carried on.
  Am                                             G        G7       C
My love and respect for you will go on and on in song.

Chorus
  F                  C                          G
But so many times I don't know what to say.
  F                C                      G
I know my love for you won't end today.
F               C                          G
So many times I don't know what to do.
F                   C                      G         G    G7
If we should have a different point of view.
                      C
But Momma I love you

C                                                Em
We both know by now the world is just not what it seems.
Am                               G                G7
To live our life in full it must be in a dream.
C                                                 Em
Theres many things that I want and there are many I reject.
Am                                   G                      G7
But most of all I want your love and your respect.

Chorus
F                   C                         G
But so many times I don't know what to say.
F                 C                       G
I know my love for you won't end today.
F              C                         G
So many times I don't know what to do.
F                  C                      G         G   G7
If we should have a different point of view.
                       C
But Momma I love you

C                                                 Em
So if the time should come and we don't see eye to eye.
Am                                            G                    G7
Think of the song I wrote for the song it does not lie.
C                                                Em
It says how much I love you,how much I really care.
Am                                             G                       G7
I thank you for your love for your love you always share.

Chorus
F                   C                         G
But so many times I don't know what to say.
F               C                         G
I know my love for you won't end today.
F              C                           G
So many times I don't know what to do .
F                  C                      G          G      G7
If we should have a different point of view.
                       C
But Momma I Love You
          Em                        Am    G  G7
Oh I really do, Momma I really do
                  C

Re: Momma I Love You

Great song and I am sure this will always have very special meaning for you and your family.

I lost my father in-law in january of this year with cancer and whilst he was dying I wrote a song for him which was played at the funeral. He heard it once before he passed on, at least I think he heard it, he actually died as the song was about 70% through. So this song has very special meaning to my family, regrettably its not one I care to share.

Welcome to chordie, look forward to seeing your other work.

As always I hope you enjoy my musical journey as much as I do.

Seriousfun

As I believe my mother heard my song I believe your father in-law somehow heard 100% of your song.Keep that close to your heart.
Thanks for your kind words

Hi KAP54 and welcome to Chordie,

Great song for your first offering on the Forum and a wonderful tribute to your Mum and I am sure that she has cherished it since you first wrote it for her.

Thank you,
