Topic: If You Were Here

Lately I have been in a huge funk.Hopefully this will help me get out of it. smile
This is a song that I wrote in the mid 80's about missing a loved one.It has a reference to drinking whiskey which, thanks to Nmontgomery I remembered it or it would have been long gone.
My apologies for not being on board lately...just trying to keep on keeping on and thanks Nmontgomery. I hope you don't feel that I wasn't trying to help you with your song.
Chordie won't show 2 chords properly so....

If You Were Hereby Ken Peters Aug 1986

Its [D]raining outside and I'm a[C6add9]lone in a bar,

I'm [Em7]drinking rye whiskey and [C6add9]my minds ajar.

My [D]problems are many and [C6add9]my friends are few,

Now [Em7]I'm drinking whiskey and I'm [Em7b5]thinking of you.

I can [D]still see your hair as it [C6add9]shined in the light,

I can [Em7]still feel your warmth on those [C6add9]cold frosty nights.

I can [D]still hear your voice when you'd [C6add9]speak in my ear,

I can [Em7]still feel the strength that you [Em7b5]give when your near

And [A]if you were here than I'd [G]sing you a song.

I'd [A]tell you I love you and my [G]love for you is strong.

And [A]if you were here then I'd [C]know you were [G]on my [A]side.

[C]Oh Oh [G]Ooo I need [A]you.

I [D]remember the day that we [C6add9]strolled through the park,

We [Em7]walked all day long and we [C6add9]laughed until dark.

And [D]then we sat down by the [C6add9]old willow tree,

Where [Em7]you built up my confidence, you [Em7b5]made me feel free.

[D]Later we made love, the [C6add9]love felt so fine,

[Em7]Later we rested our [C6add9]bodies combined.

Now [D]every,every,[C6add9]every time that I [Em7]think of you baby I'm [Em7b5]frozen in time.

And [A]if you were here then I'd [G]sing you a song.

I'd [A]tell you I love you and my [G]love for you is strong.

And [A]if you were here then I'd [C]know you were [G]on my [A]side.

[C]Oh Oh [G]Ooo I need [A]you.

Now it's [D]raining outside and I'm a[C6add9]lone in a bar,

And I'm [Em7]drinking rye whiskey and [C6add9]my minds ajar.

My [D]problems are many and [C6add9]my friends are few,

Now [Em7]I'm drinking whiskey and I'm [Em7b5]thinking of you.

AaH, great stuff Kap54.

So emotive. I loved the imagery all through this song.

Keep them coming Sir. Writing is a great way to uplift a body.
