Capo 1 Intro strumming Am

[Em]On the [Am]day when I first saw her

Eme[D]line was seventeen.

She al[G]ready gave a glimpse of

Who she’d [Em]later grow to [Am]be.

[Em]She was a [Am]beauty early on

Filled with [D]humor in her eyes,

And a [G]sadness that she hopped

That no one [Em]saw or rea[Am]lized.

Eme[G]line [Em]

Are you a [Am]dream,

Eme[G]line [Em] [D]?

[Em]Though she [Am]didn’t grow up hungry

Or [D]lack for anything,

She [G]was not raised in glamor

Or in [Em]high socie[Am]ty.

[Em]Eme[Am]line learned at an early age

With a [D]smile or with a pout

She [G]could work the situation

How she [Em]wanted it worked [Am]out.

Eme[G]line [Em]

Are you a [Am]dream

Eme[G]line [Em] [D]?

[Em]Shortly [Am]after I first met her

I was [D]smitten through and through.

I was [G]just learning my way,

As my [Em]feelings grew and [Am]grew.

[Em]I [Am]often talked with Emeline,

But I’m [D]sure she never saw

How I [G]felt, or that I dreamed of her.

Each [Em]night her name I’d [Am]call.

Eme[G]line [Em],

In my [Am]dreams,

Eme[G]line [Em] [D].

[Em]Though I [Am]never got the courage

[D]While some other did,

And they’d [G]woo her with their honey tongues

While [Em]in shyness I [Am]hid.

[Em]She’d still [Am]find the time to talk with me

Though my true [D]feelings I would hide.

Just a [G]friend was all I was to her,

But as a [Em]friend I could a[Am]bide.

Eme[G]line [Em]

In my [Am]dreams,

Eme[G]line [Em] [D].

[Em] [Am]I lost track of Emeline.

Through the [D]years I’ve lived my life,

[G]Full and well rewarding

With my [Em]children and my [Am]wife,

[Em]But [Am]every now and then I find

Dreams [D]from my past return,

And the [G]memories come back to me

Of the [Em]time that I would [Am]yearn for

Eme[G]line [Em]

In my [Am]dreams,

[G]Emeline [Em] [D]...

Re: Emeline

Very nice Jeff. I really liked the story it told, the chords fit nicely. And you did a fine job performing it as well. I felt this one from the soul. It is a huge complement to you when your music can reach out and touch someone!

Re: Emeline

Thanks very much, Dave. This is actually one of my favorites too. I wrote it back in December and have been keeping it to myself until now.
