Topic: Wife is out of town

and I'm doing all the housework.  It inspired this.

Not in chordpro format mostly because I'm lazy, but partially because I'm not sure how the changes will lay out.  Suggestions welcome.  smile

The Laundry

\\ Off tempo latin-almost.

\\ Chorus
\\ Am
\\ Em
It is shameful when I realize
the million things you do for me
that I didn’t recognize

\\ C
\\ G
\\ ??
\\ Am
I wish that I could tell you of all those things
but I don’t have the words
They’ve escaped me and flown away

\\ Am
\\ Em
And the list of foolish things I’ve done
that I let get between the one thing that I dream of
You couldn’t write down in a thousand tomes

\\ Bridge

My mind turns with you
the way my eyes turn
from the sun

I can't turn away
I tell you
I’m the mad one

\\ Chorus
I wish that I could show you all the things
that spring into my heart
when you’re around

And swear to you every day
that I’ll do better but
I never do

You’re the woman of a thousand faces
and I love each one
that’s what I’d say to you

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: Wife is out of town

I read every word and as I always say. "You've been reading my mail" --- Kris Kristofferson.

I really like the tone of the song, it seems to build and build until you get to the final verse, when you tell her, obliquely, that you love her. Yeah, I see this with a Latino-Jazz flavor, but I can't get away from the thoughts that it is free-verse as well. I think embellishing the song with some Latin guitar will present it quite nicely. You're gonna need some augmented, demented, fragmented chords in there in that case. smile

Disclaimer: What I say don't mean batguano, but I like the tune.:)

That's exactly where I'm going with it.  I've got a book of freaky jazz chords open right now.  smile

Re: Wife is out of town

Five stars, Jerome!

You're revealing all of the elements of any healthy relationship, i.e., noticing, appreciating, saying so, and respecting. Really like the idea of a laid-back Latin rhythm with this theme ... good work.
