Topic: Question for you

Russell's response in another topic made me think of a few questions...

1. Do you name all of your your guitar(s), some of them or none of them?
2. Why?
3. If yes to #1, do you have a naming protocol? For example do you give them all women's names, etc?

Looking forward to the responses!

Re: Question for you

1. Mostly.  I have some with and some without.
2. It's easier to refer to Boomer or Tiny than it is to give the whole model name, etc.
3. It's usually some physical attribute, but that's more laziness and lack of creativity than it is a protocol.

Re: Question for you

While I don't name any of them, I do think of them as female, and always refer to them as she. I also refer to my boats as female. Now you got me wondering why. Everything else is refered to by their brand names and if there are several of the same brand, color is used to refer to them, hence the moniker "bluejeep".  I once worked on a project to convert a gas powered vehicle to electric power and we refered to her as "Evie", I don't identify anything as "he", so the question is, do I need to see a shrink?

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Ditto.

I've never given a name to any inanimate object.

Re: Question for you

I don't think I've ever given one a name, other than referred to them as the brand on the headstock. That would get confusing if I had as many guitars as JJJ. It would be like having 9 kids all named "George". lol

Re: Question for you

I call the SG “Rocker” , or RED, and sometimes ginger, or whatever redhead has my attention, Hot mean and nasty.   My new Strat, Is starting to become “BETTY” (Page) casue she is sexy as can be.  The Ovation 12 string, it’s a she, and no name but evokes warm memories of its heritage. The black Kamen, depending on the day, “Road Dog” or “Beater”.  Yea, I guess it’s a more masculine connotation having been to sea with me several times and world conflicts and showing the abuse of the travels.

Re: Question for you

Nope - no named guitars - and none of them conjure up a sexual orientation either, they are just sexless guitars.

On the other hand, I do name every computer I get ... although the computers are also without sex.  The bed on the other hand... oh wait... nevermind... I got off track there.

Oh Sure. Drag me into this. LOL 3 of them are named. My Yamaha SJ 180 is Joey because my name is on it. My Rickenbacker is Rick because it is a Ric. My Danelectro Silvertone is named Pam because it is the first guitar that I bought when I first started dating my wife back in 1985.     Note: I only had 3 guitars back then.

Re: Question for you

I never named my guitars. I usually call them by the model number. Maybe that counts.

Amy, I did name a couple of my computers but I can't repeat those names.

Re: Question for you

People I'm doing well to remember my own name it would be just more info to store in my brain that is already running over with worthless stuff, unlike other folks i have but three guitars, two acoustic and an electric. One of the acoustics is a triple 000 size sooo, i have a 000, a big one and an electric.  Works for me.      b

Re: Question for you

"The Sisters" ---- Anita, Helene and Johanna. My mother and my two aunts respectively.

I have no idea why I decided to name them - maybe just to keep them in remembrance as they have all passed.

Maybe I will find a picture of them in their stands, but the only one not sold is "Anita"  (or the Les Paul Epi).
