Topic: Chordpro support

Hello, I just downloaded the trial version of Chordie and imported some songs from my database to test it out. I use Chordpro format for all my stuff and note that none of the comments are displayed? Tabs shows within a song are not there. I have spent the past couple of years getting my files the way i want them to look on screen (currently 1263 songs) and cannot even consider re-writing them all to fit with Chordie. Is there something else that can be done? I would have expected the full Chorpro formatting to have been supported.

Chorpro directives i often use are:
inline
comment
define (as in chords)
start/end of tab
start/end of part
start/end of chorus

Thanks
Jeff

Re: Chordpro support

Howdy Jeff, Have not run into that specific problem before, so could you direct me to the location (ISP) where you got your version so I can examine the same one you installed.  It might be an outdated or "broken" package.

Welcome to the Forums and Thanks for posting your question.

Re: Chordpro support

Hi Doug. I just downloaded what is available from the Windows store yesterday. So assume it must be upto date?  I am on a trial so far until i am happy it can do what i need.

My reason for looking at other packages right now is that I have been using GuitarTapp Pro for a couple of years and it seems that there is no longer any customer support from them. I have had many crashes and loss of files recently and their database system is painful to maintain. I need something more stable. I already have dropbox and Onedrive  for backing up. I also have the GuitarTapp application on my Android smartphone for when i am out. I need a good system to replace what i have...
Must  work on both Windows 10 and Android and be stable with easy recovery should there be any hiccups.
Must allow synchronisation between both devices easily
Must support the Chordpro format ( as many of the directives as possible) as all my files are in that format (now 1286 songs !)
Must have in-app editing of chordpro files
Ideally it Should support referencing an additional audio file as a backing track. ( I have this on Song Repertoire as well as on GuitarTapp)

It seems that so many options are available on iPad devices that do everything i need, but not many on Windows 10.

Thanks for your response.
jeff

Re: Chordpro support

No prob Jeff,  that's why we are here.  Actually I had reviewed this App (Chordle) awhile back, and found it lacking in much the same areas that you have noticed (and mentioned).  I wandered back there just a few minutes ago to the Windows Store and there have been a few "fixes" since the last time I installed it on my PC.... especially in ChoPro handling/importing and such.  But TBH it's not one of our projects and really can't do much to change what it is..... even though they have listed us as one of their primary sources for music (without even doing us the courtesy of asking BTW). smile   Here we are just a bunch of fairly "casual" musicians trying to help folks find the music they want to learn, encourage them along the way, and promote individual expression through Prose, Lyric, Music, or any combination of those.  There is some degree of editing that can be done within individual songbooks, we don't host or store the actual music, just the formatting and preferences of each member as they have "modified" a tune to their instrument, tuning , key or taste.
That kinda means that there is no way for you to drag and drop your stuff into here and make changes and have them be returned with those changes intact.  We are not that big an outfit for having rooms of servers and the legal staff to deal with all the copyright stuff that could happen.... LOL.  Guess that's why there are no fees, or anything to download to become a member of the Chordie Community..... which BTW Welcome To !!

There's about a half Million of us out there, and just maybe someone will have an idea of a different App out there that more closely fills your needs.  You did a good job of describing what you would like and that is always helpful.  So stick around, wander down to the Chat Corner and introduce yourself, there are a great bunch of folks who would like to say Howdy.

Re: Chordpro support

Thank you for your replies guys. I will have to keep searching by the look of it. I tried Songsheet generator and didn't care for it much, so uninstalled it. I have to sort something soon as I have just wasted my entire Sunday messing with GuitarTapp and it losing stuff. I eventually got all my files up to date and began building setlists from scratch and part way through it corrupted and lost the all my setlists. It is so flakey to be unbelievable. Could be some aspect of windows 10., But either way I have had enough of it.

Throughout the day I must have downloaded every software that runs on Windows 10 and tried them all. Not one does it all. They all seem to lack the finer touches to make life easier. But if you just take a look at the options  available for iPad they are great. But I do not own one of those and never will. Onsong looks great but they will not do a windows version of it.  Chordie works to a point but lacks some things as already mentioned. Anyway.... thanks once again for your inputs.

I bought an iPad just to run OnSong ... although it's not without it's flaws it seems to be the best in the market at the moment. If you change your mind on the iPad thing, I bought a 2nd hand one for around the cost of a pedal ...

Thank's for that. That is good to know. I just have so many other things on right now that seem to be draining my bank account. Maybe I will reconsider in the future if i get clear of the current load.

Cheers

No probs - I also meant to add mine is an iPad Air 2/32Gb Wifi only, OnSong doesn't need the latest iPad to run ... just make sure it's got a 64bit architecture, and it should last for quite a few years ... eBay or CraigsList (I think that's our Gumtree equivalent) are a good source of 2nd handers ...

Cheers
