been awhile since i written anything, and not sure where this came from just kinda happened. This is the first run at it i am going to redo it when i get some time to polish it up a bit

kicked out the fire said get ready to go
climbed in the saddle and hit the trail
the echoes of the wounded they could hear them wail

the south had made its final stand
the carpet baggers roamed the land

the war had taken everything they owned
left them with only the skills they'd honed
no war to fight no farms to tend
no cows to raise no fences to mend

they made their plans and their minds were made
they'd rob a train at the point of a blade
Yankee gold and sweet revenge
the south will rise the message we send

hid neath the trestle on the rail road track
the train was coming no time to wait
they spurred their horses on to meet their fate

a rebel yell did fill the air
the south will rise again i swear

the engines soot and smoke blocked the sun
over the yells you could hear the guns
the engineer and conductor lay dead
and captain beau with his shirt turning red

Billy joe rode for the Indian nations
a place to hide or maybe salvation
the outlaw life always on the run
your only friend is a loaded gun
