Topic: My Fingers Bleed

Here's one I just wrote. Fits this current mood I'm in, and of the world too I guess. Kind of a bluegrassy finger pickin the chords sort of thing.

My Fingers Bleed- by Jeff Gilpin - 5-9-2020

Intro A// D// A// G// – G// A// D// G/ A/

[A]Can’t go to work

And I [D]Work from home

[A]Can’t wake up

When I’m [G]all alone

~~~
Chorus
[G]Don’t want to write
Don’t [A]want to read
[D]Eyes so tired
My [G]fingers [A]bleed
~~~

Walk outside

Go back in

Day just started

Begin again

~~~
Chorus
~~~

Don’t want a cat

Don’t want a dog

Don’t want to lay

Like a bump on a log

~~~
Chorus
~~~

Play Intro Again

~~~
[G]Get myself on [A]out of this mood
[A]Put on some music
[D]Hum along
[G]Don’t even matter
Don’t [E]know the song [E7]
Made it through
Another day
Sure enough another
Heading my way
Nice one Jeff - kind of bluegrass - Renaissance feel to it - I like it a lot !!
Thanks for sharing.
I love the simplicity of that bluegrass sound, and the lyrics just about sum up the mood of the moment
Thick as two short planks
Re: My Fingers Bleed
Definitely have had days, weeks, months like this
“It’s like a Jab, you got the squeeze and you got the attack, you got the guitar and the emotion behind the song.
You can plug into a Marshall, but if you are not attacking it,  it's just going to sound so-so.  If the song doesn't grove, you are just bashing through chords” .
Re: My Fingers Bleed
Don't want to lay like a bump on a log...what a fabulous line! That's saying something in a song full of great lines. If I have one small criticism it might be a tad too fast. But a great performance none the less
Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.
Re: My Fingers Bleed
Thanks Phill - As for speed, I was playing it more at a quick more bluegressy speed, which usually gives time for more music. It would be a good campfire song giving people a chance to show off their playing skills.
