Topic: To Lose is to Gain

I wrote this one this past weekend. I've been convalescing after a little "procedure" made me have to refrain from exercising for a little while, but I am back on my feet getting my wind back. I also made the mistake of not playing enough when I wrote it to remember how it goes. So as soon as I do remember and I'm able to perform it properly, I promise to record and post it on my Soundcloud page.  In the meantime feel free to try it out on your own if you like and let me know what you think. It's kind of folky like many of my songs if that helps.

Verse chords Em – G D – Em – G D Em – Chorus Chords – D Em – G D - Em – G D Em

~

To [Em]lose is to gain

Lose your [G]anger lose your [D]pain

[Em]Then begin again

[G]Then be[D]gin a[Em]gain [D]

~

I [Em]set upon a path I know

On a late summer's [D]day

The [G]skies were cloudy overcast

But I [D]thought it’d be okay

I was [Em]geared for frugality

To keep my burden [D]light

The [G]hike would be a short one

And I’d [D]try with [G]all my [Em]might

~

To lose is to gain

Lose your anger lose your pain

Then begin again

Then begin again

~

‘Twas my first in a long while

I was recovering

A minor illness kept

The wind from my wings

But I held my resolve

And back on my feet I climbed

To start a new beginning

And to catch back up with time

~

To lose is to gain

Lose your anger lose your pain

Then begin again

Then begin again

~

A sprinkle felt from time to time

But it never soaked me wet

I kept my feet a moving

On my journey tryin’ to get

Tryin’ to get me back upon my feet

And put the past behind

‘Cause life is life that’s what it is

And all you’ve got is time

~

To lose is to gain

Lose your anger lose your pain

Then begin again

Then begin again

~

My journey was a short one

But a step upon my path

To lead to where it led me

For my reward or wrath

I made to the other side

No prize for me await

Just the prize to keep on going

As I tried to remake.

~

To lose is to gain

Lose your anger lose your pain

Then begin again

Then begin again

~

My lesson was an easy one

That I already knew

But needed the reminding

Like the tying of my shoe

When life knocks you down at times

You can lay down and die

Or get yourself back up again

And give it another try

~

To lose is to gain

Lose your anger lose your pain

Then begin again

Then begin again

Re: To Lose is to Gain

Hope you recover fully soon. Every cloud has a silver lining, you were ill but it gave you a fantastic song. I'll look forward to hearing it.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: To Lose is to Gain

Thanks Phill. I agree and it will be posted soon sometime this weekend.
