Reckless Mind & Rebel Heart by Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[G]She was more wolf than a [C]woman

A wild [G]soul, but that ain’t[D] wrong

I [G]didn’t want to try to [C]tame her

Just [G]wanted her to [D]take me a[G]long

. Verse 2

.

[G]She's a little bit like [C]heaven

joyful [G] gypsy dancing with the [D]stars

like [G]wind moves through wild[C]flowers

a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

.

Chorus

[C]Falling in love was far too risky

see she [G]couldn’t be tied down

a free [C]soul never lookin' back

She had [D]no reason to stick around

[C]She had a world that couldn’t wait

So she [G]drifted from place to place

Oh, her[C] heart just wasn’t in it, and

I had [D]nothing to make her stay

.

Verse 3

[G]A fire burning [C]oh so bright

But [G] cool as a summer [D]rain

With her [G]spirit running [C]ever free

she’s [G]a dream that you [D]can’t ex[G]plain

Chorus

[C]Falling in love was far too risky

see she [G]couldn’t be tied down

a free [C]soul never lookin' back

She had [D]no reason to stick around

[C]She had a world that couldn’t wait

So she [G]drifted from place to place

Oh, her[C] heart just wasn’t in it, and

I had [D]nothing to make her stay

Repeat verse 2

.

[G]She's a little bit like [C]heaven

joyful [G] gypsy dancing with the [D]stars

like [G]wind moves through wild[C]flowers

a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

just a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

She's a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

Re: Reckless Mind and Rebel Heart

Great lyrics ! Interesting that the chorus is 8 lines and verses only 4 lines. After reading the lyrics I played it using your chord progression, but not knowing the melody made it a little hard to fit the words of the lyrics in smoothly.  I'm looking forward to hearing your version.

I want to read my own water, choose my own path, write my own songs

Re: Reckless Mind and Rebel Heart

great song Jim, 4 line verse 8 line chorus, I agree with Ed not the usual song layout. Having said that not your usual song subject, a slight departure, I like it a lot.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Reckless Mind and Rebel Heart

One very minor and perhaps insignificant change I made when playing through. Instead of playing the last line of the verse C.G.C. I swapped the last C for a F7. Just to break things up a little. I'm sure theirs other changes you could make but the lyrics are spot on. I enjoyed playing.

Thick as two short planks

Re: Reckless Mind and Rebel Heart

Thank you all !

I made some changes in the lyrics and totally changed the chords

I like it so much better now !!

Re: Reckless Mind and Rebel Heart

Great lyrics Jim reminds me of some of the wild woman I knew in my younger days who were travelling around drifting in and out of jobs different countries and towns.
