Topic: ballad of Saturday night

WARNING  a couple of bad words sprinkled here and there in this one, nothing you wont here on tv these days
story about a redneck Saturday night

https://soundcloud.com/mojo01/ballad-of-saturday-night

G
well i was sitting there at the stop and go
C
drinking beer listing to the radio
G
wondering what to do on Saturday night
C
wifes pissed off we had another fight
G
thought i would ease on over to the caraban club
C
shoot some pool maybe get some grub

D   G

so i jumped in my truck and headed to town
with a 6 pack of beer and a bottle of crown
i was headed south just taking my time
theirs lots of lawmen here hwy 59
i get in enough trouble with those old bar fly's
last thing i need is one more  DWI

just as i pulled in to the parking lot
some ass hole cut me off and took my spot
was an old beat up truck with whiskey dents
some big boned girl wearing leopard prints
had a cigarette hanging from her lip
tobacco in her teeth from her last dip

well she got out the truck and said you want some of this?
flicked the ashes off her smoke a blew me a kiss
with her hands on her hip in them leopard skins tights
she looked pretty good in my one good head light
at this point i wasnt sure what to do
if she jumps in my truck ell i know I'm screwed

so hell i locked the doors and rolled up the winder
she walked on over and leaned on the fender
set her beer down right  there on my hood
reached in her pocket      oh hell this cant be good
pulled out her and flipped me the bird
said why dont you get out the truck you little turd

well by now we were attracting a crowd
it was obvious this that ole gal was ploughed
i had no intentions of getting out of my truck
man what a night just my luck
well i was thinking it was for me to go
before someone saw me that i might know

so threw my old truck in reverse
wouldnt you know things just a little worse
there were cars backed up to the road
i was stuck no where to go
with home still standing in my grill
cars to back i about had my fill

i may have been a little drunk and some what miss guided
but i had mad up my mind and i had decided
the only way out was to run that heifer  down
hit the road and get the hell outta town
so revved my engine a time or two
yelled get out of the way if know whats good for you

well you know it was right about then
but who shows' up but a couple of lawmen
one was tapping on my window glass
while the other was trying to arrest her ass
but she wasnt going with out a fight
looks like somebodies going to jail tonight

well they tried to cuff her but didnt phaser her
they got her attention when they hit her with that tazer
she hit the ground like a ton of bricks
she was flopping around like a dog scratching ticks
and it seems the cops had forgot about me
they were pretty busy with their new detainee

well it looked like luck was on my side this time
as i eased on past the scene of the crime
now i dont want any one to misconstrue
as i left the parking and pulled on to the avenue
this time i have really learned my lesson
with strange women i should not messing

out of tune out of key and out of touch

I said this in the sound cloud but  LOVE IT.  I kept waiting to hear  you somehow quote:

"You know you always have the Lord by your side, And I was so pleased to be informed of this that I ran Twenty red lights in his honor."  A'la Mick and the boys.

Yeah Mojo, so good so funny. Johnny Cash is dead but not forgotten.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: ballad of Saturday night

Mojo - another superb one!  You sound so much like Guy Clark on this one.  I kept waiting for a little chorus in there somewhere.  I bet this stuff  happens all the time.  I still can't believe that with your style, voice and playing abilities that you aren't signed to a contract by some recording company !  You are special Mojo !  Jim

Make your life count, and the world will be a better place because you tried.

That is another great one!

Well the spare was flat and I got uptight
'Cause there wasn't a fillin' station in sight
So I jes' limped down the shoulder on the rim

I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car
It was right in front of this little bar
A kind of a redneck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn

Yep - backside of the Miss You  45 - Written by Kieth and Mick. It's funny because the song, Miss You, is more R&B, and an awesome song in its own right.
