Topic: Delivery Trucks

This morning I wrote this song after seeing another delivery truck roll up to my neighbor's house to drop off a package again.

Delivery Trucks By Jeff Gilpin

Intro strumming G

Delivery Trucks – Jeff Gilpin –  10/24/2021

~

[G]Early in the morning

Sounds from the outside

Dropping off a package

Then it’s back into their ride

[CMaj7]All the stuff that people need

If they want to succeed

[G]Load ‘em up

With some help

Drop ‘em at

Your doorstep

[D]Company’s making their bucks

Thanks to delivery [G]trucks

~

Drop ‘em off and get some more

Bypassing the shopping stores

~

Another day just the same

Delivering and again

All because the people

Just keep on ordering

Stuff that catches our eye

Until it’s piled up sky high

Load ‘em up

With some help

Drop ‘em at

Our doorstep

Companies are taking our bucks

Thanks to delivery trucks

~

Newer stuff will soon be coming

Truckers wheels a constant drumming

~

Solo verse and chorus

~

Storage trailers

Stacked up at the ports

Waiting on more truckers

Because there aren’t enough trucks

Supplies lines’ backing up

People about to erupt

Load ‘em up

With some help

Drop ‘em at

Our doorstep

Companies’ can’t take our bucks

Without more delivery trucks

~

Delivery’s late so we start yelling

Can’t wait for all that they’re selling

Re: Delivery Trucks

I know how you feel Jeff. It seems every other vehicle is a white van, or blue van in the case of Amazon deliveries! As I live in a terraced street, the delivery person will knock door after door if the can't get an answer, they can't just leave the parcel as they'd get stolen!
You've written a very cleverly composed song.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Delivery Trucks

LOL Jeff

My wife is on a first name basis with the UPS delivery guy - he drops stuff off nearly every day.

It's ridiculous.

Nicely described.

Re: Delivery Trucks

lol truer statement was never made
Delivery’s late so we start yelling
Can’t wait for all that they’re selling
love that line

out of tune out of key and out of touch

Re: Delivery Trucks

Excellent song Jeff your song describes the situation here in New Zealand perfectly. Here most of the things brought online are delivered by people driving Toyota vans. Also as a result of online shopping many of  our well known shops are closing their local  Stores.

Re: Delivery Trucks

Thank you all. Right when I finished the song, another truck was pulling into the same neighbor's driveway. Must have forgotten something from the previous order.
