Topic: week end

here we go again, it's Friday and even the loyal and regular posters are hibernating! It seems the only posters we get from Friday to Monday are spammers...

So, I decided to do some string changing this week, my acoustic was screaming out for some new strings. But unusually as i was tuning up I broke the skinny E string. Now as a rule the only time I break a string is when I restring my 12er and it's always the skinny G. Once that happens I play without that string, but of course you cant play without the skinny E? So I put the dirty one back on (too tight to buy a single string)

Just thought I'd post this hoping to get some others to post as well as it's now "Frigid Friday" tomorrow will be "Ghost town Saturday" and then "Spamming Sunday"

Come on guys let your fingers do the walking

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: week end

It's true, the spam here is getting bad, and I see some of the new people joining and commenting, but it looks like AI generated text in response to a generic question ... I did post a link to a video for FSoTM, but it received no replies ...

Cheers

Re: week end

It's sad but the amount of spam we get makes this site  like a Monty python sketch .Seriously though I was in a cafe the other day that had Spam eggs and chips on the menu .I kept calm and didn't do the song.

Re: week end

Why not Grah, I have several times...lol

The spamming is getting worse. I try to check every morning and evening if possible. Even if others have lost faith in Chordie, present company excepted, the core members need to show we are still here and keeping the faith. As the old saying goes...use it or lose it. If Per decides one day that his baby is going down the pan with the bath water he may just pull the plug and we'll all be the losers

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

The times I've seen this before, it was a financial decision, not a usage one ... if it's free to keep it going they generally sticks around longer!

Re: week end

I don't know what the answer is I would like to see more people post on here. In my short time of being part of chordie I have been very thankful for the generosity of spirit of those on here who have helped me navigate music and storytelling through helping me with words and lyrics and their knowledge of music.

Re: week end

The problem that I have with social media, Richard, is that its more like anti- social media. Everyone seems to think they have the right to slag people off even if they don't deserve it. At least on Chordie everyone is polite and if they can't be they keep it to themselves. We used to have posts on camping and sports and even day to day things. I wonder how people picking up a musical instrument for the first time get on with all the abuse. I think a few people have got famous very quickly through being " liked" on Facebook. Well good for them, but it's a long slippery ladder.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Good to hear from everybody!  Was beginning to wonder if Covid had thinned the ranks severely, although there are many we have not heard from in many many moons.
Like JJJ, I have not had much to contribute recently, but I do try to drop by a couple times daily to "take out the trash". Musically there is not much going on. The better half and I are primary care-givers for her folks (in their 90's) and more and more require non-stop attendance. I never thought I'd spend my retirement years as personal chef to the aged. But the hand has been dealt, and we persevere.
My good friend Jeff just took delivery on his brand-new Gibson J45 straight from the Bozeman plant, and sorry to say I have yet to wander over to his place to check it out.... he's stoked though! As a "lefty" he always wanted another Gibson (previously owned an SG) but recent price reductions made acquiring another possible. If I can schedule some time and get over that way I will likely post some observations afterwards.
Y''all check in from time to time and let us know you're still breathin'. Stay safe and keep makin' music!
