Topic: Easy Beat Add On 3

Easy Beat has put up "Songs I wish I Had Written". recently ' I like many songs so many that I can't put a number on here because there is too many. But one that lyrically made sense to me in the worldwide mainstream is this song though I have mixed feelings about the band that originally wrote it. I liked some of their earlier songs and then later on I thought they lost their way, apart from one or two songs But one thing I couldn’t fault them on was their collective vocal harmonies.

Pedr,  sorry but I have to disagree with you on this. Artists have to evolve as the Beegee's did and of course the Beatles. The Beegees or Barry Gibs originally from the Isle of man, then Australia then returned to UK finally on to the US grew from a ballad band to disco and produced some amazing songs in their later life not that their earlier stuff was not as good, different times different styles.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

Cheers Piri, my Maree liked their disco music but I couldn't get into it.  Maree liked that film "Saturday Night Fever".  Sometimes just to wind Maree up or get a bite out of her I will refer to Johnny Travolta as Johnny Revolta. One of their later songs that I did like was this one which I will attach here.

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

I really enjoyed that. I must say I'm not over enamoured by disco even though I had to play bass on some of their songs (BeeGees) when I played in a band, mmmmm.
Great minds Pedr, I still call him John Revolta sometimes.
I am a full time wind-up merchant, I can twist most statements to be a bit rude but I have to be careful what I say and to who, not everyone has my sense of humour.

FYI, The band wasn't called "mmmmm"

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

Peatle - that was very entertaining... the song was great, the Bee Gees were great, the video was great
but what stole the show for me were the cleaning woman and the guy driving the Van ( might be the same person smile  )

I like most of the Bee Gee music - but overall 0- disco never was appealng to me.

Cheers Piri and Jim, thanks for your feedback. I will attach a favourite live performance of a Bee Gees song with Maurice Gibb and his ex wife Lulu.

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

I was never keen on the Bee Gees music either, though a few of my friends did and it became a thing between us all at parties, they would deliberately put on the Bee Gees music lol.

Pealte, I always loved Lulu when she sang "To Sir with Love".

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

Cheers Jan maybe it would be a good discussion to have on chordie everyone's favourite movie tunes.?     I remember," The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain" has done a couple great versions of movie music. The theme from the movie "Shaft" and also "The Good Bad And Ugly" theme.

Re: Easy Beat Add On 3

Overall their unique approach to these classics will likely add a bit of a quirky and fun twist, which could spark interesting perspectives from Chordie members.

Good idea Peatle.  I guess the Chat Corner is as good a place as any to start such a discussion.  How about you starting it up on Chat Corner since it was your idea and I agree, I think would be fun.   You could share some of your favourites and other people could join in smile

I love watching The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, they are very clever!  I agree, Shaft and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly were brilliant.  Along with many others they have performed over the years.  That group was originally started up by George Hinchliffe and Kitty Lux back in 1985.  Sadly Kitty passed away in 2017.  She was the one who often wore a scarf in her hair.
