Topic: Beneath the covers (re-write )

i wasn't happy about the lyrics of this song - So I re-wrote it.
I took down the old post.
I will try to record it someday soon.

Beneath the Covers    By   Jim Kenyon

(Verse 1)

.

[C]In her self-made studio, she [F]weaves nighttime [C] magic

[C] slender fingers picking notes so [F]elegantly [C]perfect

A voice [F] smooth and sweet, a smile slightly ro[C]mantic

[G] a canvas of others [F] dreams, and hers, I sus[C]pect

.

(Verse 2)

[C] hiding her emotions, she [F] plays some borrowed [C]songs

[C]far from the spotlight it[F]seems that she wants [C]more

As she [F] sings, her eyes offer glimpses into her [C]soul

[G] her past, a mystery andher [F]future, still un[C]sure

.

Chorus

[F]a voice that cradles timeless words of Folds and [C] Prine

As she [F] sings songs of fate and love not meant to [C] be

soft [F] melodies help her through what she can’t [C] explain

be[G]neath the covers, she [F]sets her loving heart [C] free

be[G]neath the covers, she [F] sets her loving heart [C] free

.

( Verse 3)

.

[C ]Hidden in her heart are [F]promises lost to [C] time

[C]seems there’s stories yet un[F] told in her [C] songs

Her words [F] weave a tapestry of life in the [C] night

[G] secrets kept while [F]searching for where she be[C]longs.

.

Chorus

[F]a voice that cradles timeless words of Folds and [C] Prine

As she [F] sings songs of fate and love not meant to [C] be

soft [F] melodies help her through what she can’t [C] explain

be[G]neath the covers, she [F] sets her loving heart [C] free

be[G]neath the covers, she [F] sets her loving heart [C] free

.

soft [F] melodies helping her through what she can’t [C] explain

be[G]neath the covers, she [F] sets her loving heart [C] free

Slower

Re: Beneath the covers (re-write )

I like the lyrics. Well, I want to sing and play the guitar on this song.

Re: Beneath the covers (re-write )

Your wording and verse are almost shakespearean or romantic/classical, beautiful. It will be interesting to hear your treatment as I feel its more poetic than musical. Great job.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Beneath the covers (re-write )

Thanks Phill

I'll give it a shot......  but  my abilities to sing and play are limited ---

I will try to get it done tomorrow.
Thanks you for the kind words.

Happy Spring to you and Ann!!
