Topic: Ghost Town Heart

Since there isn't much action going on in the forum of late, I figured I write something to try to spur a little activity.

So here is a country song I wrote.

“Ghost Town Heart” By  Jim Kenyon

Verse 1:

[G]Lit like neon on Main Street,we [C ]were burning in the rain

[Em7] our reckless hearts dancin' [D] like a runaway train

[G] but windows are shattered [C]where love used to stay

[Em7]and tumbleweeds are rollin’ [D]through our yesterday

.

Chorus:

[C]My heart feels like a ghost town, [G]so empty and dry

[D]Boarded-up dreams where [C]we used to [G] lie

[C]The bars are all closed up[G] the jukebox don’t play

[D]silence and shadows at the [C]end of the [G]day

[C]Where laughter once echoed, [G] there ain't any sounds

'cept the [D] cold wind whisperin' through [C] this ol' ghost[G] town

.

Verse 2:

[G]church bells used to ring out, now [C] no one even cares

[Em7] train station's quiet, it’s just [D]rust and broken stairs

[G] lonely, empty streets - all the [C] lights have burned out

[Em7] ain't no voices, no laughter [D] only fear and doubt

.

'cept the [D] cold wind whisperin' through [C] this ol' ghost[G] town

,

Verse 3

[G]lives built on hopes and dreams now[C] lost on forgotten roads

[Em7]Don’t know how it slipped away [D]into the great unknown

[G]still drive through now and then, [C]there's no love found anywhere

[Em7] just heartbreak and memories [D]that haunt the midnight air

.

'cept the [D] cold wind whisperin' through [C] this ol' ghost[G] town

.

outgo

.

[C] Yeah, my heart's now a ghost town, [G]stuck in the past

and [D] I’m just a drifter , chasing [C]love that couldn't [G]last

.

play slower

.

yeah,[D] I’m just a drifter , chasing [C]love that couldn't [G]last

Arpeggio on the last G
