Topic: Romeo's Juliet

Thought I'd give a try at a song regarding the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet ( although I discovered Shakespeare based it of an Italian poem Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke to my surprise )- still a heart wrenching classic.  I remember my HS English teacher taking us to the movie in 1968 after we had read the play. I fell in Love with Olivia Hussey that Day ! Great movie!!!!

Anyway - here it is probably needs a lot of tweaking

Romeo’s Juliet By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[G] I cannot eat, I cannot sleep, [C] can’t tell night from day

[Em] Is this love, or just a dream? [D] Only you can say

[G] You are the east, you are the sun, [C] I see it in your face

[Em] I can’t stop thinking of you, I'm [D] lost in your embrace

________________________________________

Chorus

,

and she says....

[C] Please hush your voice, you [G]know my family’s near

Be [C]quiet when you say you love me, as[G] they might hear

But I say

[C] Montague and Capulet, [G] love never needs to hide

oh,[D] hear my heart, feel the love [C]hidden deep in[G]side

Verse 2

,

[G] together we're next to heaven,[C]parting ’tis such sorrow

[Em] hard for my heart to know [D] what will be tomorrow

[G] Verona, she stands broken, if [C] our hearts are shamed

'cuz[Em] a rose still smells sweet [D] no mater what it's named

,

Chorus

then she says....

[C] Please hush your voice, you [G] know my family’s near

Be [C]quiet when you say you love me, as[G] they might hear

But I say

[C] Montagues and Capulets, [G] love never needs to hide

oh,[D] hear my heart, feel the love [C]hidden deep in[G]side

Verse 3

[G] to be or not to be, must we [C] choose to love, or die?

[Em] seem hatred is required of us, [D] who are we to question why?

[G] Death leaves a heartache that[C] no doctor can ever heal

[Em] Yet one kiss from you, leaves a [D]memory no one can steal

,

Chorus

,

again she says....

[C] Please hush your voice, you [G]know my family’s near

Be [C]quiet when you say you love me, as[G] they might hear

But I say

[C] Montagues and Capulets, [G] love never needs to hide

oh,[D] hear my heart, feel the love [C]hidden deep in[G]side

.

Bridge

[G] If the stars should fall in silence, [Em] whisper through the rain

[Am] If the night should steal you from me, [D] let my love remain

[G] Two hearts joined forever, [Em] beyond their cruel goodbyes

[Am] Though the world may turn against us, [D] let our spirits rise

,

Outgo softly

.

[C] So hear my heart, discover the love it [G] has inside

[C] Juliet, my Juliet, you [G]are my light, my life

[C] Though our story ends in sorrow, [G] love will never die

[D] Romeo’s Juliet, you’re the [C]reason I still [G]cry

slower

[C] So hear my heart, uncover the love [G]hidden inside

[D] Juliet, my Juliet, you [C] are my light, [G]my life
