Topic: Christmas song

I wrote this trying to meld together the Christian and Santa Claus Ideas regarding Christmas, and that it is fine to have both.

“Star in the Snow [Christmas Is Here]” By Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

[Em]When the night falls [A]quiet,

And the [Em]world turns [A] slow,

There’s a [Em] light in the [A] distance,

[B7] like a [C7] star in the [B7] snow.

[Em]Little ones [A] whisper,

“Is [Em]Santa on his [A] way?”

While a [G] manger keeps [A]shining

With a [B7] love that [Em] stays.

Verse 2

[Em]sleigh bells are [A] ringing

all[Em] through the [A] night,

and [Em] Bethlehem’s [A]star is

still [B7] burn[C7]ing [B7]bright

[Em] Candy canes, [A]stockings,

and [Em] dreams under the [A]tree

but the [G] child in the [A]stable

gives us [B7] the gift that we [Em] need.

________________________________________

[B7]Yeah, Christmas is here… where [A] magic and mercy draw [Em] near.

Verse 3

[Em] Now Santa brings[A] laughter,

and the [Em] joy that kids [A]know,

But the [Em] Christ child [A] brings

peace to [B7] our [C7] weary [B7] souls.

[Em] One night, yet two [A] stories,

both are [Em] filled with [A] joy

Both [G] bring love and [A] promise

to [B7] the girls and [Em] boys

Verse 4

[Em]So hang your bright [A] lights,

and let [Em] your heart be[A]lieve,

find [Em] joy in your [A] soul

from the [B7] grace [C7]we re[B7]ceive.

[Em]Look for Santa’s [A] reindeer

Up on [Em] top of the [A] roof

but [G]hear the Angels [A]singing

that’s the[B7] Savior’s [Em] proof

Bridge

[Em]Some hearts feel the [A] coldest

when the [Em] season’s [A] bright,

without [Em] love or [A] laughter

through the [B7] silent[Em] night.

[Em]But the Child in the [A] manger

knows your [Em] sorrow, [A] too—

And His [G] love feels the [A] warmest

when the [B7] night feels so [Em] blue

[B7]Yeah, Christmas is here… where [A] magic and mercy draw [Em] near.

[B7] And Christmas is forever, [A]year after [Em] year.

Re: Christmas song

great writing waiting to hear it

out of tune out of key and out of touch

Re: Christmas song

Clever lyrics Jim but I also suspect for some unfortunate children and their parents it is also a tough time of year,

Re: Christmas song

Peatle - great point thanks thinking of that !!
I have added a bridge at the end - hope it addresses it enough
without making the song depressing.

Cheers !!

That addition is excellent Jim.
