Topic: an opinion needed

This is a song I have really been reworking.

The first chorus is one in which im trying to find the best final line out of the 5 at the end of Chorus A  so any opinions will be welcome.
You will see that each chorus builds ainto the arc of the song,

V1
E                                                  D
Where do you run when you need to hide
C                                        D
Where do you sleep so you won’t die?
E                                                            D
Where do you turn when you need to cry?
C                                                      D
Who do you reach for when your tears run dry?

Chorus A
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
Does their light light still shine when truth sets in?
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
1 Do you face what’s left, and try to defend?
2  Do you look within, or try to defend?
3  Do you close your eyes, or try to defend?
4  Do you stand your ground, or try to defend?
5  Do you step aside, or try to defend?

V2
E                                                  D
They kept you company when you were alone,
C                                                  D
They gave you courage when you faced the unknown.
E                                                  D
They gave you hope when you had none—
C                                                 D
Were they bulletproof, or did they use a gun?

Chorus B
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
Do you start  to see a  piece of yourself?
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
All their fault’s  you blamed on someone else.
V3
G                                         D
Talk to me again from the wreckage and flame,
C                                                Em
You taught me strength, then you slipped in pain.
G                                         D
Still I hear your words when I’m losing ground—
C                                                Em
You were human, but your light’s still found.
V4
E                                                  D
Your words still breathe, they keep me alive;
C                                        D
Just to hear your voice pulls me out of this dive.
E                                                  D
Come back to me from wherever you are,
C                                        D
Let your spirit sing through my guitar.
[guitar solo]
Bridge
G                                            D
The lights still fade, the crowd still sings,
C                                              Em
Your echo moves through everything.
G                                       D
Every soul you touched still hums your tune—
C                                      Em
A little more human, because of you.
G                                              D
Where will you be as the night closes in,
C                                             Em
When I get scared and I need a friend?
G                                          D
I’ll hear the music that sets me free—
C                                                 Em
Close my eyes, and you’re here with me.

Chorus C
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                               (slide to F @ 9th fret)
What’s the lessons they have left with you?
B5                          F#5
When your heroes become human,
D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
All that’s left is what they gave to you.
Outtro
E                                                  D
Where will you be when the story ends?
C                                                  D
Somewhere beyond, where the broken mend.
E                                                  D
When the last light fades and the curtain falls,
C                                                D
The light you sparked still finds us all.

Re: an opinion needed

D5                      (slide to F @ 9th fret)
1 Do you face what’s left, and try to defend?
2  Look within,
3  Close your eyes, don't be discouraged
4  Stand your ground
5  Step aside, never give up you have no choice but to defend

Re: an opinion needed

Good lyrics Beamer, I like it.  Without hearing how its performed, my thoughts are maybe overuse of "try to defend".  But that is from just reading it, maybe hearing it, the use of "try to defend" so many times would be fine.
