Topic: Dreaming and Thinking

Well I burned up my vacation time on a trip with my son so now I have no time left to go see him off. I wrote this for him because I sometimes have a hard time letting him know how I feel. My hope is that he can sing it with me someday down the road. I hope you all like it.

Lovely Jets,

Played this here this morning! I bet my melody is so different to yours?

Look forward to the recording.

God i could sit here all day playing, but that old work thing is a calling lol

Old Doll.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: Dreaming and Thinking

Your kids must be constantly touched by the songs you write for and about them. Another cracker here. Well done.

Agree with Old Doll Jeff, think it'd be good to hear a recording of this one. You think you'll be able to persuade your son (is it Tim?) to duet with his old man then?

Bit of father / son competition on the vocals can only make for a good recording tongue

All I got, is a red guitar, three chords and the truth

Re: Dreaming and Thinking

You're so close, I hope that we can get together and jamm some time.  Perhaps by a campsite in the Shenandoah National Park next Spring, eh?  If we ever do, this is a song that I want to hear played and sung the way it was intended.

When I was a youth, Father & Son by Cat Stevens resonated with me.  Now that I am solidly in middle-age and have children of my own, it resonates still but for different reasons.  My children are still young and haven't left home yet, but I have a feeling that your song will do the same thing when I get to experience it from both sides.

Very well done.

Re: Dreaming and Thinking

That was fabulous!  Right up to the B7 where I had to scratch my head and arrange my fret hand with my strumming hand but sounded marvellous, well done indeed sir!

I'm the son of rage and love

Re: Dreaming and Thinking

Thanks you all - The trickiest part for me is in the intro when you go from E7 A A7 to the start of the first verse... I screwed it up this morning playing it for the wife. Unfortunately I won’t be able to duet it until Tim gets to come back home which wont be anytime soon but I might be able to do both parts myself first so you all will know how I sing it.
