Topic: font size in songs wont permit right copying

Hi,,

To copy a song from the site, I copy it and paste it in Word  and all the words and chords get mixed up. Some do work fine but most dont.

As far as I know ,it prints as seen in the editing window.

So what I would like to know is how to print as seen on screen.

anyone can help me

thanks,

Vinton

Hello Vinton - If all you want is a nice printed copy of the song as you see it on the screen, simply hit the 'print' button on the song's page.

Re: font size in songs wont permit right copying

Hi,,

Thanks for the info.

What I need to do is copy it and paste it in Word to change the chords and save it.

When I do this it brings it in as shown in the edit window.

Hello Vinton,

Why not transfer the songs you want to My Songbook. You can edit both tabs and lyrics and then print from there easily.

I do not think that that the format that Chordie uses and Word are compatible so it is unlikely that you will be able to do what you want to. I have a large library of songs and tabs in Word that I started years ago and the only way I can add to it is to print it from Chordie and then write the whole song out from scratch in Word. So now I have my own library and my new Chordie Songbook to maintain.

If anyone know an easier way I also would be please to hear.

Hello rogerguppy - This link might help with your multiple file format quandry. The site has a handy-dandy free tool that converts a chordpro type file (the format you see in chorie's edit pane) into a format you see displayed on chordie's song pages (not quite as fancy, but very usable).  You can also save the coverted file in html or some other formats.

This converter tool works best with text files - so just re-save your Word stuff into text format(.txt).  However, if all your Word files have the chords placed using spaces, maybe this tool won't be much help . . . But, if you get into the habit of putting any new stuff into chordpro format, this site is very useful.

Also, I noticed the songbook you posted recently. It is great that you have edited those songs into an improved form.  Thanks for reminding me of some great songs!

Re: font size in songs wont permit right copying

Hi James and thank you for you comments.

Unfortunately, as you suspected, my Word songs are not in Chordpro format and the link you gave me will not help. However I have now noted 'bythechord' in my Favorites as I am sure it will be helpful to me in the future.

I am pleased that you liked what I have done in my songbook, there are not many in it at present, but it will grow in time.

there is a little printer and also you can change chords, eg too difficult chords. Transpose with semitones + or -

Re: font size in songs wont permit right copying

Hi Roger:

I have no problems printing songs from public books or the general search. I just click on the "file" button in the top left corner and "save as" to my hard drive, then print from there.

It's always worked perfectly for me.
