Topic: The Madness of Dublin.

Well we like many more yesterday had lots of rain, So whats new!

My sons wee girl was 6 hours in a car  stuck on our main Motorway. She was driving here for a birthday Party.
A journey that should take 20 mins at max.

We can send men to the moon, google earth,  put holes in doughnuts. Yet! our planners are a bunch of Gombeens getting paid
with our taxes. They should be put in stocks tomorrow in O'Connell street for not only allowing this to happen, but allowing the beautiful village of Celbridge to be flooded with sewerage right down the main street and into the stores.

Heaven preserve us.

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

Yes! I do live about outside of the city of Dublin on the Emerald.

Fantastic old city with touches of modernity.  It has so much to offer.
Unlike most of our planners. A righ bag of gob sh###s. They do get one thing right though?

They never fail to make us look like a whole island of Gombeens..

Ya should visit, when its not raining lol. or pack a wet suit.

Ah yes Sir, one hundred thousand welcomes to you and yours. { Rain or No}

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

A good friend of mine grew up in Dublin. He says in his best Irish lilt.
I would love to visit the home land one day. I looks absolutely stunning!!!!

We do things a little bass ackwards in Florida also. There is never a time when there is no construction on the highway. But the intense heat and saturating water content in the air far makes up for the rude people and dense population/horrible housing market........I really am not bitter.
It is beautiful 2 days a year!! (not in concession)

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

That looks like a real mess Doll. Be careful on those roads - a flood can carry a car away easier than you think!

And all those crazy drivers! They are all driving on the wrong side of the road! big_smile

Rule No. 1 - If it sounds good - it is good!

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

Topdown on Top form! eh! lol

I cannot wait for all the planners in the morning, being interviewed on the Radio, they will spew as much sewerage from
there own pipes, as flowed down some of the streets on Saturday Here.

Lends a whole other meaning to  " Spending a Penny". lol

Ps Stretch Papa.

Give this link to your Irish friend. Show him what he is missing. Topdown is also going to arrange driving on the proper side of the road for him if he visits. lol Topdowns, school of proper motoring @ righthand drive.pennsylvania 6500 !

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

Helena you want to try driving here in Portugal they are by far the worst drivers in the world. No indicators ever used, no lane disiplne, using roundabouts as car parks, I have even seen people go the wrong way round a roundabout and another stop and reverse because he had missed his exit. Total madness.

As a little aside to Europeans and Americans who drive on the wrong side of the road lol. There is a reason that we drive on the left side of the road, the majority of people are right handed and when we rode horses and carried a sword it was easier to defend yourself if attacked as you passed.

Just God's punishment for allowing Cork to be beaten. You know he's a Corkman, doncha?

Re flyfishing, come on over! Very good when the flood is just dropping!

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

Got a call from my sweet Irish thing yesterday.  She got stuck on the motorway, and had to drive on the curbs in town to get home from her sister's.  She said they had more rain that night than any other time in the last decade or so.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Weather's lovely up here in Belfast, Old Doll, lovely and damp that is ; )

Should we, as ever thoughtful neighbours, be thinking of helicoptering in some inflatable dinghies - or would it just add to the traffic congestion ?

Re: The Madness of Dublin.

Make those thermals inflatable.

I just heard that a group of hillwalkers had to be helicoptered off the Mournes last night because the rivers were in spate. What the rivers were doing there I don't know, but it sounded ominous. Maybe they were "hill swimmers."

I'm just after a week in the Antrim Glens at the Heart of the Glens festival - don't remember much but a general feeling of goodwill and bonhommie. This weekend is my middle daughter's birthday sleepover - it should be re-named sleep-never. I hope to keep out of the rain !
