Re: where is everybody from?

Jim Busch, age 61 from Loretto, Minnesota, USA, Earth. I've been playing since about 1972, which would be 36 years. I have been a church musician for about 22 years, playing electric guitar and electric bass.  I learned lead guitar after age 40, and have enjoyed guitar & bass for all 36 years! Playing guitar keeps you young, prolongs your life, and is just the greatest! If I lost my hands I would listen to music endlessly, which I already do with 2 working hands.
I play a Fender Stratocaster, Martin HD-28 acoustic, and a no-name electric bass.

Re: where is everybody from?

I'm from Reykjavik, Iceland. 36 yrs old, been playing for about 5 years. Actually I have been singing professionally with my two buddies in a small jam band for some years, but I always felt I needed to learn the guitar so I could write songs - and maybe perform on my own some day! The trouble is finding time, though. Too much work and the kids are still young and demanding..

Re: where is everybody from?

hi gang,

i'm 57 been playing [or torturing] the guitar since i was 14. i'm from llanelli in south wales uk, so russel that makes me welsh big_smile bought a cheapy first of all which broke after a few weeks! eventually graduated to a 1972 strat, in white [i'd just seen george harrisons bangla desh film]. i still have the strat plus a fender f90, a nondescript 12 string [but it sounds nice] a krafter semi accoustic round back guitar, and a kort electric, and a wilson bass in black which is probably mid 70's, previous owner was a heavy rocker, as the heavy cross damage is still visable.
STILL LEARNING, STILL STRUGGLING no natural talent so i have to work at it.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: where is everybody from?

Originally from London UK, now living in Japan. Played guitar for almost 50 years, now suffering
a worn out basal thumb joint and carpel tunnel syndrome but I will not stop playing till they nail
the lid on my box! Then it'll have to be the harp.

Learning to play guitar is hard, giving up is near impossible!

Re: where is everybody from?

Re: where is everybody from?

Joe, 42, playing for 2+ years, from Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Nice to see the wide world represented here!  Great range of geography, age, experience, and sense of humor!

I mostly strum chords, but a little of my classical training comes out, especially to accompany my daughter's violin lessons.  If there's ever a good reason to start playing, that's it.

Re: where is everybody from?

34, from great big Texas.  I have been singing most of my life.  Recently, a few good ole' boys and myself got together and began forming a small 'backyard group'.  It is fun.  So glad I stumbled on this site.  It will make things soooo much easier!

Re: where is everybody from?

Cardiff, Wales, UK
Age 57 - originally a keyboard/piano player from age 10. Started learning folk guitar aged 20 and played local folk clubs in the 70s. Gave up and went back to keyboards and wrote and recorded electro music in the 80s.
Just retired a year ago and have rekindled my interest in acoustic guitar and folk/traditional music. I've just formed a folk band.

Re: where is everybody from?

This is a cool exchange!!  I am in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA.  Actually I am turning 47 TODAY!!  I know, 9-11 is not the same as it used to be.  Still, it's my birthday.  I got my first guitar when i was 15.  It was a fairly nice cream colored Strat copy.  I cut my teeth on good ol' blues and still love to play them, though my tastes are widely ranged.

I moved to St. George Utah after I retired 2 years ago.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: where is everybody from?

Toronto Canada, playing about 10 months.  Chordie has been a great help with my lessons and taken me from"doing chord exercises" to playing music.  This is a fantastic website that my children now browse since they have started taking lessons as well.
