Re: where is everybody from?

The name is STEVE BOILEAU. I am a 50 yrs. old. Live in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. I been involved in music fo 40 yrs. I'm a half decent rythmn player that can find his way around a bass and piano. I picked up and still use the stage name of Johnny Vitalis from a revival band in the mid 70's called Johnny Vitalis & the Brylcreem Kids.

Re: where is everybody from?

Hi all, I'm Steve Murray, I live in York, England.

I've been learning to play the guitar in earnest for about 18 months. I never wanna stop.

Every song I hear I'm trying to pick out the guitar rhythm then follow it up with a quick browse on Chordie. I love the fact that now you can search through Chordies songs for "Easy" or "With Chord Grids" etc.

Be light unto thyself.

Re: where is everybody from?

Been playing for a little under a year, still sound terrible, still get frustrated, still don't practise as much as I should, still make a hash of my chords on occasion....BUT....most importantly, still learnin and still lovin my new found skill*

*The word skill is used in a shamefully exagerated manner.

Re: where is everybody from?

How do....

I'm 29, been playing for about 15 months now and I'm the first to admit I'm completely addicted to playing as much as possible. Now if only that meant I'd be any good......

I hail from Paisley near Glasgow and I'm also an avid fan of the mighty St Mirren! Gaun the Saints!!!!!!!!

(incidentally, the last bit was written in Scottish)

All I got, is a red guitar, three chords and the truth

Re: where is everybody from?

Aloha everyone!

I'm originally from Hawaii but living in Nebraska. I got a guitar for Christmas from my wife two years ago, but I've only been playing for almost 5 months so I guess by the looks of it, I may be the rookie here. All you guys (and gals) who have been playing for years are an inspiration for me. I covet your wisdom and knowledge to help make me a better player. Take care!

Re: where is everybody from?

Re: where is everybody from?

Hi,

I'm Hendo (29) from Adelaide, South Australia. Region famous for not much other than wierd murders and Hardy's Wines (indeed the winery is just a giant shed).

I've been playing for 4 years and learned the essentials by playing along with Chordie. My acoustic is my prized posession and I'll play just about anything.

I'm from Scottish parents from Glasgow so it's great to see some Jocks on here. While we aint St.Mirren, Adelaide United is my club, even if former Celtic Bobby Peta plays for us.

Keep rockin', this site tops them all. Posters sound like a great bunch. Imagine if there was ever a Chordie Convention!?!?! What a jam it would be, eh?

Hi All,

I am also an Aussie from a suburb about 50 Kms from Sydney NSW. I am in my late 50s' been playing keyboards since .... well for a long time. Recently came across my late grandfathers old Stella still in its' case it is about 90 years old now. I cleaned it up restrung it with some light gauge strings and proceeded to grow callouses on my finger tips. Sounds great has stayed in tune so now I share my time between the two instruments. Don't gig with it though. Stay cool and rock on.

Re: where is everybody from?

superb thread this and very popular already.

I have just turned 37 end of Feb. started playing Bass when I was 13 or 14, played in a few bands, gave that up, got married got a couple of weans ( children)

Started playing acoustic when I met my wife,14 years ago. her dad had one and I learned on that then got my own.

I started writing my own songs practically straight away as I could not play covers apart from knocking on heavens doors so I started doing my own then covers.

I now play, the acoustic guitar ,and trying to play the Uke, mandolin, jew harp, kazoo, tambourine, couple of tom drums, the bodhran ( a big celtic drum)

My wife plays the violin. We have jamming sessions with a mate on a friday night and do a lot of irish and scottish traditional music until I belt out a few acoustic punk songs.

ye get some that are cut out for the job and others just get by from pretending

Re: where is everybody from?

Devon, England. Been playing electric guitar for over 40 years on and off. Love to play songs from the 60's but also some new stuff. Any 'oldies' from Devon out there? Please get in touch.

Re: where is everybody from?

Hey all,

Great to see both a sisterhood and brotherhood happening!

I have been playing for many years - mostly campfire/singalong stuff as I don't read music.

Luckily, playing by ear means I am able to fake a whole lot of songs on the piano (since I know the chords)

Now if only there was some way I can teach my fingers to move quicker for my Mandolin playing....

Re: where is everybody from?

I am from Philly, Home of the Philadelphia Eagles !!!!

Obviously, Philadelphia, Pa, USA

I started learning from an older friend ( I was around 10 or 11 ) but he did not know many chords, and I never took lessons, and just played the same things off and on for years... Finally bought a Brand Name in 2006( Xmas present ) Not a very expensive guitar, but a nice one just the same.. An Ibanez , sounds nice..I made sure it was an acoustic/electric and bought an effects box and an acoustic amp.. My childhood coming back to me. . Anyway, I just started back late last year, and loving it.. Love this site Too..I am 47 and really learned allot in the last few months. Sorry for the Autobiography
