Topic: Watch out for the Tractor Trailer

This was one from my list of ideas that I believe James mentioned it was good jot down as you think of them. It's something I say to my kids when they have a long drive or are going out...I usually get a message like "I didn't get runned down by the tractor trailer" letting me know they got there. They kind of humor me because they know I worry. Hope you like it.

Watch out for the Tractor Trailer By Jeff Gilpin

March 27, 2007

Verse 1

[Am]You go through life as happy as can be

Every[F]thing coming as easy as you please

Just be[C]ware because sooner or [G]later

You gotta watch out for that tractor [Am]trailer

Verse 2

See for [Am]some folks things come easy I know

[F]Everything in order, always on the go

But they [C]better be wary for the [G]day

When the tractor trailer comes their [Am]way

Chorus

[F]Doesn’t matter if you’re [C]smart are [G]dumb

[F]It’s gonna happen either [C]way

[F]Life’s great then like a [C]shot from a [G]gun

[F]And you see things in a different [G]way

So be [F]ready cause sooner or [G]later

You got to watch out for that tractor [Am]trailer

Verse 3

You’ll be [Am]cruising about just singing a song

[F]Thinking you’ll get there before too long

[C]Then from the very edge of your [G]sight

You’ll see the tractor trailer [Am]lights

Chorus

[F]Doesn’t matter if you’re [C]smart are [G]dumb

[F]It’s gonna happen either [C]way

[F]Life’s great then like a [C]shot from a [G]gun

[F]And you see things in a different [G]way

Be [F]ready for it cause sooner or [G]later

You got to watch out for that tractor [Am]trailer

Break

Your [F]trailer might come in a different [G]form

It could be a [F]flood or [C]fierce snow [G]storm

There’s [F]not telling what your trailer may[G]be

But you [F]have to be looking or else you wont [C]see

Cause sooner or [G]later…[Am]

Verse 4

You’ll be [Am]walking along without a care

[F]Thinking of all places you’d rather be there

[C]Cross street thinking what a great life you [G]live

Tractor Trailers don’t for[Am]give

Chorus

[F]Doesn’t matter if you’re [C]smart are [G]dumb

[F]It’s gonna happen either [C]way

[F]Life’s great then like a [C]shot from a [G]gun

[F]And you see things in a different [G]way

Be [F]ready for it cause sooner or [G]later

You got to watch out for that tractor [Am]trailer

Re: Watch out for the Tractor Trailer

I like it. I'm a grease monkey at a truck stop so I thought it was great. Played it with my buddy blowin some harp and had a real good time with it!!!

Hey Mike, Glad you like it. It was written to be played with a lot of energy. What I call a good "thumping" song.

Re: Watch out for the Tractor Trailer

Great idea and you have done it justice with your lyric.   Personally, I am terrified of those behemoths hurtling down the road.

There is an off ramp near here that curves very sharply toward the end.  Huge signs with flashing lights warn drivers to slow down - but about once every month a big rig takes it too fast and flips over.  It is great practice for the emergency crews and tow truck operators.

Have sometimes considered setting up a lawn chair (at a safe distance) just to watch it happen.  In a small town, you have to make your own fun.  James
