Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Thanks. I've been looking at a few but hadn't considered Washburn (not sure why). Being a far from professional player (and much closer to hack), I can't justify (or more precisely can't convince my lovely wife) the ES335 is an absolute necessity.
I like the salute headstock idea. I too am irritated by the snob attitude towards non-vintage off brands. If I like it and it works for me, I don't care that it doesn't say Gibson, Fender or Martin on the headstock. If you play a Fender (and I'm guilty of this crime) that's great but every one is different. I've played some pretty crappy name brand guitars and some awesome lesser known brands as well. Too often it's about the guitar not the player.
Sorry kind of a rant....Thanks for the input on a hollowbody.

I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.

Beauties Wayne - The colors and finish of the Yari is stunning!

Thanks Russ,

It is a Readers Digest print   "Classic Rock" by C.F. Payne the photo doesn't really capture how cool it is. My nephew give it to me a few years ago.

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Hey thanks Jeff,

The yairi has a few dings in it and I should have taken better care of it, but it is still gorgeous and my favorite. Did you notice the pickup in the soundhole? I added that awhile back the built in electronics has a input inside for it and is an add on made for the system 2 electronics.
You can adjust both the piezo pickup and the soundhole pickup from the controls on the guitar. I have a fender hotrod deluxe tube amp that sounds wonderfull with this guitar, it doesn't sound acoustic though.

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Looks like some really fun toys Russ! I've been dying for a looper but haven't gotten one yet. How are you enjoying it? All those effects would have me scratching my head for hours lol

Those are some really fine guitars Wayne!! Really love that Yairi wink The martin ain't too shabby either smile  I've seen the cool pic of the band before... I believe on another forum? Do I know you from somewhere else as well? Or maybe it was another band member that posted it somewhere....  So which one is you? smile  -Pix

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Pix it takes a little getting used to I should be getting a pedal today or tomorow to control the phrases along with the new PA I ordered I cant wait to hook all of the gear up and run it thru the new PA I pretty much got the ME-50 figured out and the basics of the loop pedal the real trick is going to be making a smooth transistion from one song to another without to much dead air but thats what rehearsals are for and I will not play before an audience till I fee confident of putting on a good show smile

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Pix,

None of the fellas in the pic are me, I can't play electric worth a darn. This is the only forum I participate in and I haven't been to North Carolina, I am usually some where west of the missisppi. Out where the hoot owls chase the chickens.
The martin sounds great, but I wish they would have Yairi build the necks. It just don't play like the Yairi, not that it's bad just not up to the Yairi's quality. The tuners, neck and everything about the Yairi , breathes of quality. The G&L is really a quality guitar also I can't find any faults in it either. The martin and epiphone both sound great but they have some things I don't like also. I will be buying more Yairi's in the future. I have had this one for about 8 yrs it's always in tune, not affected by humidity and weather changes and is a real workhorse, it is showing some wear on the first fret second string area. I play all of them more equally now so it will last a long time. If it were stolen, after I come out of mourning I would go find another one.

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

I don't have a picture, but I just got the StealthPedal by IK Multimedia. It rules-got a copy of AmpliTube Metal, and it works with my expression pedal so I have full control over all the pedals and effects. Only $200 to.

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Hi,

I travel a lot to work, I'm a seafarer and get posted to new shps all the time, so I needed a travel guitar.  I discovered that the Hofner Shorty was being reissued, so I got me one, and play with a Vox Amplug, so that I don't disturb my shipmates.  And I can assure you all that disturb is the right word as my playing has not progressed much beyond a few chords and very simple noodling, despite 20 years of effort!

Help,

Despite trying my level best I can't get the photos to appear!!  I've uploaded the photos to Flikr, and tried the [img]...[/img] tag thing, but still no luck!!!

Matt

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

Here ya go Matt - You need to use the [ img] tags and the file needs a recognized file extension i.e. jpeg - I snagged it, moved it to my flickr account and renamed

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

You can almost see my mid-70's Yamaha dreadnought guitar in this video. It has such a big sound that it drowns out the vocals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK168zMdY-Y

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?

Re: Show me what ya working with :) Guitars People! ;)

I finally got my guitars together for a group photo!
Here they are in the garden...
From left to right:
Walden N730 "Natura" Classical
Walden D552 12-string
Troubadour Blondell 2 "Citern" Guitar (on the ground)
Ozark "Hot Club" (on the chair)
Stonebridge DS24SR

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g220/DrNebula/chordieguitars.jpg

The Stonebridge and the 12-string are my strumming guitars, and the classical and the Ozark are my picking guitars.
The little Troubadour is my travel guitar but is also used for getting a "medieval" sound for songs I've adapted from the 15th and 16th century. This is something I'm working on at the moment.
