Topic: ukulele picking

It is easy to find chord tabs for the ukulele, but little advice on picking other than Ken Middleton. There are picking styles shown on video, but the fingering is seldom tabbed.
Am I missing something?

Re: ukulele picking

I was told by a Hawaiian professional uker that the uke has always been a strict rhythm instrument for them, maybe that's why?

also, ezfolk.com has picking lessons online for the uke

I also heard the same thing from my previous instructor back then. You could do an exercise such as plucking the 3rd (from the ground) string of your ukulele with your thumb. That's all. Pluck it over and over and over. You are also going to get an introduction to tablature or "tabs", which is a system of writing music that is common when you are doing special things with individual strings.

Re: ukulele picking

I pick my uke all the time, and it sounds really cool.  Sort of like a mellower mandolin.

Someday we'll win this thing...
