Will You Be Just Mine?by Roger Guppy

[C][Em][F][G]

I re[C]member the [Em]day that I [F]first set eyes on [C]you,

On my [F]friend’s birthday, [C] at the ca[G]fé, [G7]

I [C]knew there and [Em]then that I [F]wanted only [C]you,

And my [F]feelings have not [G]changed since that [C]day.[G]

[C]That wicked [Em]smile and the [F]way that you [C]move,

Make me [F]feel like a teen[C]ager, it’s [G]true,[G7],

[C]Is there a [Em]chance? Will [F]time come to [C]prove?

That [F]you feel the [G]same as I [C]do.[C7]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]friend for[Am]ever?

[Bb]Will you be [Bbm]with me for all [F]time?[C]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]one true [Am]love?

[Bb]Will you [F]be just [C]mine?[G]

[C][Em][F][C]

[F][G][C][G]

I [C]do have a [Em]plan and [F]now the time is [C]near,

I will [F]write a song to [C]let you know I [G]care,[G7]

I am [C]sure it will [Em]work; of [F]this I have no [C]fear,

Then the [F]rest of our [G]lives we can [C]share.[C7]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]friend for[Am]ever?

[Bb]Will you be [Bbm]with me for all [F]time?[C]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]one true [Am]love?

[Bb]Will you [F]be just [C]mine?[G]

[C][Em][F][C]

[F][G][C][C7]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]friend for[Am]ever?

[Bb]Will you be [Bbm]with me for all [F]time?[C]

[F]Will you [Bb]be my [Dm]one true [Am]love?

[Bb]Will you [F]be just [C]mine?[G]

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Hi Roger
Love the song and a nice recording but after spending the last 3 weeks trying to master B and Bb I'm struggling to play the chorus so I'll have to hold off playing it all the way through for a little while.

Keep on putting your feeings out there

Ahhh... a great way to celebrate your 3,000th post - with a lovely song!  The next trick is seeing if the mystery woman that inspired it ever gets to hear it!  Wonderful job Roger!  So sweet!

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Thank you Ian. Persevere with the B and Bb, they are a bit of a struggle but well worth mastering.

Thanks too Amy. A CD of the song was presented to "she who will remain anonymous" this evening. I await the verdict wink.

Daddycool. For a change I decided to harmonise the verse and not the chorus and on this song I think it works OK. Thank you.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Thanks Roger. Nice to have someone with the same name here on Chordie. I am looking forward to the results of your penmanship.

Thank you too Mark. I hope the band is still going strong.

Phill, thanks to you too. Your song 'Broken Doll' is still one of my favourite songs and I am still working on a new version of it but it was put on hold as I had to complete this first. You will, of course, be the first to hear it.

Hey Roger - Very sweet song - You taught me a new chord too. Bbm...I like it and have to use it more.

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Thanks Ark,

I have to admit thought that the harmony was digitally produced with my Digitech Vocalist Live 2.

Thank you too Jeff,

I am glad you liked the Bbm and I will keep any eye out for it appearing in a song of yours sometime. I do like the sound of a major chord followed by it's minor and I tend to use it rather too often.

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Nice song Roger,

More upbeat then your usual style. which is always good to hear.

I'm glad some nice woman is putting some pep in your step.. Just dont go tripping up now
and spoil it all..

Do let us  all know your progress please. Did she love the song ?

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Thank you Helena,

I was encouraged to liven this one up a bit by a friend of mine and I think it works OK. Rest assured I will tread very carefully.

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Hi Roger,

I really enjoyed the lyrics to your song; the chord changes in the chorus, however, were a bit beyond my ability. But thanks for introducing me to Bbm! A lovely chord I'd never played before.

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Roger I must have missed this when it was posted back in September a nice love ballad you have composed from the heart well done smile

Re: Will You Be Just Mine?

Thanks Artless, both for the comments and for bringing to the notice of two of my friends that had missed it when it was first posted. Keep practicing your chords, you will get them eventually but I guess, in this song, it is probably the Bb that is the most difficult to get to grips with.

Thanks Russ, you were probably tucking into some ice cream when I posted this. wink

Thank you too Ken, a very Merry Christmas to you and I hope that 2011 will be a better year for you than this one.
