tuning up from standard is not recomended due to the pounds of pressure the strings exert on the neck and a capo dose it without and possible harm. there are differnt tunings most or all tune the strings down such as D tuning which is just tuning the low E string down to match the 4th string (D) and it give a nice round sound but you have to make adjustments and play the G chord useing the 5th fret for the root G as it would normally be an A on the 6th string before de tuning also there are open chord tunings major or minor where a slide is used some websites feature a list of tunings DAGDAD is only one experiment with several is the best way and find a few you like smile

thanks Ark and Robert I spoke with the surgeon regarding not removing the infected organ just the stones and he told me that would only prolong the problem because the gallbladder is like a factory and it will keep on manufacturing bad stones because the organ is bad removing it is the only way to stop it.I tend to agree with the surgeon. smile

it really only changes the pitch if you tune up or down not the key pitch is usually A= 440 (tuning fork) ,tuning a guitar down and putting a capo on as Amy suggested is fine the guitar dont know but your voice will smile

I have been experiencing a sharp pain in my right side which made it really hard to take a breath this started 3 days ago so I went to my doctor and he scheduled me for a CT scan for those who are not familiar with a CT scan you sit in a chair and drink two large foul tasting glasses of  what can only be described as "liquid chalk" for a period of 1 and a half hours prior to the scan this is to insure the contents find there way all the way to your colon so they can take a "photo" when they inserted me into the apparatus it looks like something from Star-gate the table with you moves thru this ring and then they fire up the thrusters and a hot rush is felt the length of your body, horrible feeling but its over then and my doctor was informed I had Gallstones that had to be removed so next week I go under the knife and get my gallbladder removed I was worried it could be something worse like cancer but not this time its an inpatient one day operation with a day of rest in the hospital after surgery and I will be back to my usual self. life go's on obladee oblada smile

The only thing thats bad for me is it requires a download of quicktime to view the video I had quicktime on my other pc till I installed the free vlc player I had to delete the program because it compleatly messed up my myspace profile page with advertisment to "upgrade" to bad I would like to see the video but I will not install quicktime on my vista unfourtunatly they dont have it in wmv format so it could be played on any windows media player without downloading quicktime, still its a good find top smile

Busby I had a listen to the song its a basic do wop in the key of A major the chords are
A F#m D E the bridge is D Dm A A7 repeat D Dm E and back to A F#m D E you can substitute a Bm for the D (relative minor of D) if you choose if A is to high to sing for you transpose to G the Chords would be G Em C D with the bridge going to C Cm G G7 the substitute chord in G for the C is Am smile

hi Patrick and welcome to Chordie, I have been picking guitar for over 50 yrs when I first started I had similar problems,I also teach guitar and a few things I have noticed with new students is there fingernails on there fretting hand are to long and interfere with producing a clean sounding chord another is the position of there fingers on the fretboard the angle in particular I give them one trick to help form your hand into the letter C  and place it on the fretboard and play a few chords like C D G and E if your nails are cut short and you angle your fingers (this may take a few tries) you should with repetition start playing clear sounding chords the best way to tell is to form a chord and play each string one at a time(arpeggio) till you can hear every note in the chord give it a shot it may solve your difficulties smile

Phill I dont see where quoting one line of a lyric is copyright infringment if several lines were used that would be another thing we have permitted one line on Chordie for sometime. smile

Butch the idea is to quote the next line in the song not makeup some lame one of your own

if you dont have a metronome I would play the song and count the beats there are in 10 seconds and multiply by 6  if there are 16 beats in 10 seconds x 6 =96 bpm (beats per minute) just look at your watch and count for ten seonds the number of beats smile

I have to tell you I have a chinese strat that is every bit as good as any and I have owned several American strats, tele's and jazzmasters thru the years we like to think of the American strat as one that was built in the U.S. that is true to an extent but most of the parts (electronics and hardware) is imported from oversees and assembled in the states but the early models were all American made. smile
