Hi Alan,

As a 61 year old teenage I have to say that I think 'old' probably starts at about 85 but I did enjoy the song though.

Will we soon see a recordng on your MySpace?

Hi Deadstring,

If you record and album as one track it will remain one track and will not recognise the silences between tham. I believe that there is software that can then break into the the individual tracks but I have tried it as I always record seperate tracks and then compile them to a CD.

I have copied my favourite albums to CD as I understand that this is perfectly legal, as long as it is for personal use only and that you do have the original.

Like it Phill,

Quite a haunting quality to the chord sequence (at least when I play it it has) and imaginative lyrics. Don't forget to let us know when you have recorded it.

Some day I would love to get some of my stuff up somewhere and share it , ( particularly my original stuff ) , but that is so far beyond my tech capabilities at this time .. I am gonna go through my old recordings and find that Greesleeves instrumental though , and who knows , some day ??
Thanks for the encouragement ......

Toney,

Again off topic but what the heck, you are the Moderator here and the topic is about you anyway so I will risk it.

Per has been working on the current spate of Members having problems accessing their songbooks and hopefully it is now resolved.

Apologies to those it has affected and please let us know if you are still having difficulties and getting error messages.

Hi Toney,

I am afraid I missed this when it was first posted (so thank you to Cam for bringing it to my notice) and I have to say it looks a great way to earn a living. Sunshine, drinks with umbrellas, family and friends around, playing guitar and singing, - make the most of it my friend, and enjoy your life. A great performance and lets see some more of them up on YouTube.

I and most of us who post our work here will have a song or two that fits the bill for this - but that is no challenge. I believe that Jeff's intention was for new songs to be written especially for this.

Am I right or wrong Jeff?

I have asked Per, the site owner, to look at this as there are three Members with the same problem.

My brother Colin runs his own business 'Stuntworld' - a motorcycle and car stunt display team and holds several world records. He is crazier than I lol.

Apologies for going off thread.

My first 4 string, plastic guitar had a song book with it and the first song I learnt from it was 'Home On The Range' which I understand is the state song for Kansas.

Hi Phill,

A lovely romatic song and a very interesting chord progression. As for the Gdim, luckily I normally play D with a barre on three strings on the second fret so it was not to difficult add the other two notes to play it.

I hope you will record this one soon as I am sure it will be completely different to how I have just played it.

Thank you,

Roger

Thanks Phill,

It was your skill as a wordsmith that made the song.

Only 10 minutes in the writing? It would have taken me hours to come up with lyrics like that! I chose the first verse as a chorus as it was a 6 liner and the rest only four and also I could delay the 3rd, 4th and 5th lines of it to fit in the backing 'To cry' vocals.

Thank you again.

Thanks Russ,

I do agree with you about 60's music, I was brought up in that great musical era. My comment was a feeble attempt at humour.

Hi Kenny,

Phill, yourself and many others are far better wordsmiths than I, so it is great for me when I get the chance to use them.

Russ,

I am obviously showing my age with my choice of music. I will try and get up to date with my next offering.:)

Ark,

When I look back it is great to see how many of us that record our work have improved our technique thanks to help, advice and learning from fellow Chordians. Russ's Recording section has been one big boost for those interested in recording.

Zurf,

I knew when it started that it could end in heart ache, but it was great while it lasted and we still remain friends, so it is not all bad.

Daddycool,

I am OK and not moping around.  Thanks for your concern. However I might be a Guppy but I do not fancy dating a fish lol.

(For those who do not know a guppy is a tropical fish, coincidentally my mother's maiden name was Parr which is a young salmon)

Toney,

Thanks for the link. You cannot beat a bit of Jimi's music .

To all of you, thank you for your comments.

Thanks Jerome,

I had forgotten about the dobro but I think my guitars will stay in standard tuning for now. When I win the lottery and can have as many guitars as I like it will be a different story and you will all be invited to the celebration pary and can play them lol.

Hi kcart and welcome to Chordie,

Tanglewood also have a narrow neck and should be in your price range. The range of thin bodied models is limited but I have played their Gibson 335 copy and I was very impressed with it. However a guitar is a very personal thing and you do need to try them yourself to find out what suits you.

Roger

Before anyone reports this as spam I had better point out that Chris DeSalvo has contacted Per (the site owner) and has been given permission for this post.

Hi Jeff,

The 'Poems' section can be a great place for finding lyrics and these struck me as soon as I saw them and Phill was kind enough to let me use them. I hope the fingers recover soon that is usually a sign of an extremely heavy session or too little practice in the past.

Hi Selso,

Thank you. Phill's words are great, he writes some awsome lyrics and I was pleasd that I was able to put music to these. I certainly agree that a new romance or the break up of one are excellent inspiration for a song.

Being a 'teatotaller' I cannot understand the sudden upsurge in poems and songs about the evil brew lol. Still it would not do for us all to be the same.

A darn fine poem though Phill, well done.

I was very impressed with these words and so I have have put music to it and recorded it and it is now in the Songwriting section and on my MySpace.

I hasten to add that this has been done with the full knowledge and agreement from Phill.

Thank you Phill.

This is Phill Williams poem which with the change of one word was very apt after my recent break up with a very beautiful and charming Portuguese lady. The word changed was 'mother', it became 'lover' and I, of course, put music to it.

Thanks Phill for your blessing with this.

Hi Kenny,

Thankfully I have not travelled down this road. I have my ups and downs, but the downs do not last long and are far outweighed by the ups. I hope the therapy of writing this song has helped put things in perspective for you.

Now when do we hear the recording? smile

Roger
