I realized it when I no longer needed to question myself about it and earned a living doing it as to how good I am I would imagine if I can play the lead intros and fills note for note to popular songs and come up with some good ones of my own I would conclude that I am good not the best but good smile

your welcome, its good to hear that some positive results can be obtained by your example hard work pays off just getting by or cheating only leads to mediocrity this is true in all of life's endeavors sometimes you dont see the results of your efforts till you least expect it like when a bar F or B sounds clean for the first time every note clear its then you realize you have made a giant step and climbed over a wall its a feeling of accomplishment because no one can give it to you its has to be earned well done smile

I think you have to keep in mind that in the D major scale both F and C are sharp to begin with D E F#G A B C# D as Jerome has pointed out a Dom7 flats the 7th so the C# becomes a natural, once the sharps or flats of any given key are identified this rule can be applied smile

I hear ya Russ, here's some of Vernons' more tasteful stuff. Ignore the 20 second commercial before the tune begins. This is a dang sweet tune, in my opinion !!!!! Hope you likey !!!
