hi joey,
my condolences. just to say that i attended a friends funeral two weeks ago, and after the sadness, the tears and the interment, we all went out and celebrated his life, though i cant imagine how i'd feel if it was my wife.
regards phill
sweet playing song...i like it.

i tend to write a lot of "songs" that don't make it past the first verse. so i keep them in what i call my "slush pile" and when i'm stuck for a line or verse or chord sequence i check out my slush pile. not that i'm saying this song is no good...keep working on it and you'll get there

hi grah, i've got a peavy bandit 112 which i've had since noah got sea sick! and i have to say it's durable (it has to be with all the humping into backs of vans and cars) so if the line 6 is as good then you're onto a winner.
hi grah, terrific piece, i gave it a quick strum, so what i sang maybe totally different from what you have in mind, but when i got to the part; "with eloquence and pride" i exchanged your D for Em. only a thought and i may be way off...but i thought i'd mention it.

i use bright orange, red, yellow and even white but during battlefield conditions (on stage with the lights dim) you cant even find your bum with both hands....well i cant anyway! it's lucky my FX pedals have lights sometimes.
welcome to the UK, yes i heard about the jumbo, it got as far as cornwall then they found there was a fault with the landing gear!
you must have brought the weather with you as it's a lot warmer today than yesterday! so i hope you're staying a while? LOL
i had an eko 12 string back in the 70's. it was a thin body but had a lovely sound but very quiet. i traded it in for a bass guitar so i could join a band that happened to want a bassist. i traded that in for a wilson bass which i still have. i kept breaking the G string on the eko, then i found out it's a common fault with 12 stringers....anyone know why that is?
FYO, brian may used/uses old sixpenny bits as pics. i remember him on some programme asking for any that happened to be hanging around. don't know if he got any...
i'm in love. as it's an ibanez, it probably sounds as good as it looks....a million dollars and costs pretty close to that too, i bet!
very nice rog, but the pic's a bit blunt?
i got a similar one for christmas called Hudl 2, it's an 8 inch screen. the guy in the shop said it was as good as an i-pad with the added advantage that the aps are free! it's working great so far, but you don't get the blue lines under links, still working on that one. good otherwise
hi zorrotm, i had a quick look through youtube and there are a shed full of songs called "my heart belongs to you" by various artists. you will have to give more of a clue like a link to the version you want. sorry phill
more sad news, one of the most distinctive voices of recent times, Joe Cocker, passed away (i think) today aged 70. he made his name with "help from my friends" and more recently "up where we belong"
RIP Joe
anyone notice he's a lefty?
your wish is my command
lovely words and sentiments. thanks for sharing

this is a new track and as it says, it's about a bounty hunter. you can find it at this address;
nice one jim, i like story songs. the weathers taking a turn for the worse here too....rain, wind and more rain
Fair point, Ed, bridges and chorus's serve the same end, to break up and give the song a counterpoint. Listening to a new song for the first time, all you remember after is the hook or chorus. The hook can just as easily be a riff as on wonderful tonight or Something from the Beatles, written interestingly about the same lady. More, interestingly both are riff led and contain a great bridge.
My favourite is V2. Jim's post said rock and roll, so I went that way first. When I played it on piano later I realised the slower blues version suited the song (in my opinion) better. I could be wrong, give your opinions please.
i think i've mentioned before that you have a kind of dylan-esk voice. but you need to project it a little more. stop worrying about what people think of your singing. i was kicked out of the school choir when i was 14m i think my voice has improved a little since then....?
Ed, don't remove musical bridges as they can break a long song up that may be getting a little tedious, I'm not saying any of your songs are boring but if you have a lot to say a solo can ease the length so you can go past the 4 minute barrier without the listener yawning!
Has anyone else noticed how 3 minute songs of the ballad variety seem to last 10minutes plus?
you've never heard of Yes?
Yes have made a living out of 30 minute songs since the 70's, but because they orchestrate their songs they never get boring. they start quite often with an intro that lasts as long as most pop songs! a song will be out and out rock and roll then slow to a ballad then back to riffing and ending in a crescendo that will bring the house down.
eric clapton records most of his songs to about 3-4 minutes but playing live he might fill them out to 6 or 7 minutes with his soloing.
myself i try and limit verses if possible, don't forget if you have a song with 10 verses, you have to be able to remember all the words. and the song might get repetitive which becomes boring to you and especially to the audience. american pie is a great song, but very word-y. i sang it once on karaoke....boy did it get boring for me, so how did the audience feel?
rule of thumb; if it sounds good and feels good, it is good. if the listener yawns...it's too long.
