written with such tenderness and melancholy.

i honestly had to stifle a tear, how could anyone let alone a mother do such an horrific thing? when i read your forword all i felt was vengeance for what she had done, all i can read in you words is regret and forgiveness.

a beautifully written piece, i cant even imagine what kind of melody you've put to it, let us know when we can hear it.

hi ken.

it's not all fiction, i did put some of my past experiences in there (back seat and stuff) but the rest is made up. it's all about what the first line suggests, the first line comes to me and the rest will follow and go where ever it will.

nice little tune there russ, i love this type of blues which i would call heavy rock, but i've been wrong about a few things before, like when i called slide; bottle neck, remember? anyway, you've done a great job here, i'm glad you didn't stick to a 3 chord riff, and the story sounds good too, would you be about publishing the words on chordie?

Stepmother Lover.Undefined

[RIFF; A-Bm] (riff chords played open eg no barre and played under verses)

Long ago when toyboys were still a high taboo.

I was young but fell in love with a lady we all knew.

This had to be a secret love, meeting in the dark.

Late at night down lovers lane, in the back seat of her car.

[E-A-B-A X2]

I was just a baby, just 17 to my friends.

She was 35 years old and married to my old man.

Each night she'd call me and I'd run out of the door.

My stepmother lover had me jumping that's for sure.

(CHORUS)

[D] That'll be [Em7] you. [D] That'll be [Em7] me and you.

[D] Sitting on the [Em7] corner, girl, [Bm] watching the world go [A] by.

[D] That'll [Em7] me. [D] That'll be [Em7] me and you.

[D] Walking through the [Em7] summer rain. [Bm] Watching all the world go [A] by.

I didn't realize the guilt, the fear and the lies.

If my dad found out there's be nowhere for me to hide.

I was in love with her, but she just liked the thrill.

She would never walk away from mansion on the hill.

(CHORUS)

One day I got a call in work, my dad had died.

When I got home she was there by his side.

Making eyes at my brothers through her widows weeds.

I knew right then that she wont ever be true to me.

[C] She's [D] no good for a [Em7] bride.

[Bm] She gets her [G] love on the [Bm] side.

She [G] goes for the [Bm] thrill while her [Em] hand's in the [Bm] till.

And [G] money's her [A] spiritual [G] guide.

I'm over here. You're over there.

Let's pretend were together then we can share.

Share the light. Share the love.

Share the apples that fall from the trees up above.

thanks russ, i wish we lived closer to each other, postage and parts would make the whole project slightly impractical but thanks for the thought. i may get round to it one day. LOLOLOLOL (whatever that means lol )

thanks for all your great comments. i knew this wouldn't appeal to a lot of my friends on chordie as it's a bit rocky and not so country.

thanks jeff, i try to write down any ideas i get for a new song, so some of these lines are quite old, but i think they fit together quite well? the rhythm kind of fitted in with the first few lines, then expanded, so it became the intro part.

hello ken. i never had a stepmum, as far as i know my parents had a happy marriage, so the story was made up, but i like the plot and even though most of the words were written at different times and don't at first seem related (different stories?) i think they gel quite well after listening a few times and getting the gist of the tale.

hi there tony, i put the sound quality down to the DP24, it's a truly awesome machine, and the fact that i'm happy to re-do tracks a lot more than i used to as i've got more time.

hi jimmy, it's a telecaster. this is actually the first song i've done in a while that doesn't feature acoustic guitar, even though i wrote most of it on the acoustic.

i shall put the song sheet up on a seperate reply box.

thanks again for all your kind remarks.

i've added a new song to my web on your left, called "stepmother lover" and it's a bit rocky. i'm very happy with this song and if asked i will put the word sheet and chords up. your comments would be welcome. thanks

phill

ps, you may find that myspace call it "stepmum"

simply beautiful russ, loving the gold furnishings. the humbucker on the trem looks cool. cant wait to hear it.
wish i had the guts to pull my old strat apart and refit it, i'd love to stick a maple neck and new pick-ups on her, i bought her after seeing the bangla desh concert, so she's white. green looks nice.

no CD? that's a shame, songs of this quality should be heard.  a DVD then?

hi amy, yep i agree with ken, it does play well as a reggae tune as it gives it a kinda "happy on the beach" feel. i like it, when will you put it up on myspace? i had a look but didn't find it.

bad news (for me at least) the transformer for my Alessis performance pad drum machine decided to give-up the ghost, half way through recording a new track. i found a replacement on amazon for 20 pounds, so the external drive i was hoping to get will have to wait. lets hope nothing else dies on me!

hi beamer, i looked-up WD mybook on amazon and they give a good price and i checked out the reviews and they're good too, and there's free shipping, looks like i've found what i'm looking for, thanks for the heads up.

hi jerome, yes it was cards and bank account stuff, so if i understand what your saying, keep that separate and "down-load"
OAuth2?

thanks

really rather beautiful ken. i'm really taken with your guitar playing and the chord sequence and your finger picking is excellent. your voice suits the songs to the tee, having said that i could hear simon and garfunkel in my mind. fab job, cant wait for next week.

hi jerome, i'm still dubious with on-line back-ups as i have some sensitive stuff on there. my brother got caught with identity thieves so i'm really dubious with certain details, so what i'm asking is, how secure are they and would you trust them?

hi beamer is WD Mybook a make of external hard drive? as i've not heard of them. but i'll check them out on-line.

hey UJ, sweet guitars there man, a friend once had an F hole guitar dont know what make, but the sound was gorgeous, i've been trying to reproduce it ever since with standard round holers, no chance...lucky man, and get that inlay fixed or i'll send the guitar police round to see you...

jerome, i seem to have down-loaded dropbox without knowing it, i haven't installed it as i'm getting a little nervous of what i'm getting myself into these days. so can you recommend it?

beamer, no it's not a Packard Bell PC, it's one built for me to my specs, now i wish i'd bought one off the shelf, live and learn. the external hard drive is the P/Bell, so now i know why i cant get anywhere, next stop....trash can!

my first puter was 9 gigs! that's why i bought the H drive. anyone remember windows 95?

thanks for the advice, but i find buying new with a guarantee is usually the best way to go, i've found some 1 and 2 TB HD's for less than 100 pounds, that looks good to me, i quite fancy a samsung, i'm still looking and comparing, i'm a little afraid to hook up the old one in case it kills my PC again. it's a packard bell and i've tried getting on their site but end up running round like a head-less chicken. info is hard to come by it seems.

hi nela, it wouldn't work with the misses, she follows the plastic bill like a hawk. anyway, got the laptop un-crashed, and went through my X-HD and deleted everything but what songs, stories and music that were left on it. it looks like it hasn't been backing up those files for quite a while as everything was a few years old, none of the new stuff! i've got hard copies of all my songs, but the stories are all gone. ah well, we tried.

thanks again doug and all that tried to help, it's much appreciated.

i've been following this thread with interest, i too have had recent problems and doug has been kind enough to give me advice and guidance. my PC is running W7, my laptop runs vista my tablet is on android, and i've obtained an old dell that runs XP, so i followed the link and after a couple of minutes reading decided that up-grading is not essential, so i shall let sleeping dogs lie, but good luck to you russ.
