Love my Dunlop trigger capo. I clip it on the headstock when not in use.
I like the looks and size of the Shubb. But it won't clip on when not in use.

Scales help. They help to develop muscle memory so you know the distance between the strings. For note picking I find that an anchor helps me. I will plant my pinky on the pick guard to steady my hand.

I don't have any influences as far as bands or artists. I am sitting right next to Beamer in the "Metal" boat. I appreciate acoustic playing more tho. No effects just pure guitar. The diff sounds that people can get out of an acoustic is just awesome. That's what makes me want to play.

Good for you 1#7. Just remember that we were all in you shoes at some point. Playing is the part that gets us flustered. But like you discovered, once you are able to play something without thinking about it you get to work on the singing. Now that you know you can do it you won't be so discouraged when you attempt the next song.

It depends on what type of frets you have. Stainless steel, nickel steel, copper alloy. They all wear differently. The harder you strum, the harder you fret, the more you use a capo, the more you bend, are all contributing factors to faster fret wear. The most common fret wire used is the nickel steel (nickel silver).
