hi rakuraku , you are lucky Free is good!. I love 12 strings but I hate tuning them,I have had a couple of them. Enjoy! The group America did most of there songs with a twelve string in them.

Classical guitars are far cheaper than acoustic and nylon strings are gentler on beginners fingers. That is the way I would go.

Roger

Don't classical guitars have wider necks that would be harder to finger chords? Or am I on the wrong train of thought?

jackde that is a good idea I have a Takamine f312 and it has a smaller neck then others it can be used with nylon or steel strings. It sounds great and is smaller then my Yamaha. It is not hard too play at all. I got lucky I bought it from a friend after a yard sale, got it for $25.00.

Hi jacked, there are a lot of good guitars out there for not too much money, you might want too take her too a showroom and look around,I think I would start her on an acoustic ( much lighter ). We all have our likes as far as guitars go, for lower end I like Yamaha, takamine and Epipphone. Welcome here too chordae we have a lot of songs she can play here,we also have a lot of members who will try too help you and her. This is a Family  orientated site so she will be in good company here. Color should be the un- important thing, the sound and feeling good too the player should be the important thing.

Welcome back nela glad too hear all went well with the surgery. The pain pills are sometimes worse then the pain. Re-hab will most likely be the hard and most painfull,it is with broken bones etc. try too move the fingers as much as you can without hurting yourself.

I liked it too,I was almost sure someone was going too be complaining again,it is nice too see someone post a positive note. westieq is a keeper.

I have a strat made in Mexico and it sounds and plays just as good as the American one's. I only paid $170.00 for it but that was about ten years ago; the simi hard shell case was included.

elazul chuck is pretty much just talking through it . go to the song here at chordie and check out the chords chose which ones you like the best and give them a try they are in chord and tab. I did it in the e style and liked it .  I do not think you will really need too much of a strum pattern.

I do not use picks,if you can get a video and watch Mark Knoffler of Dire Straits. Most of the time he will not use a pick.

I am confused here,as are most of us,could you clear up what you are saying? Do you mean many players and artist's have some sort of a death wish?
