Thought I'd purty it up so I could print it. Jas, I would like to dedicate the message of these lyrycs to you, you come across as being rather beaten down by the world. Maybe it would mean something from somebody of the same age (even if it is one from the other side of the world) who's been through her share of hell in what I thought was a lifetime, but turned out to be a pretty small chunk of one.
I know its hard to see it sometimes, but nothing ever really stays the same forever. When you're down it feels like you'll always be down, and when you're up it feels like you'll always be up, but the truth is life is a bumpy road, full of highs and lows, goods and bads. Its gotta rain for the grass to grow, if you're walking forward on a mountain top, you've eventually gotta start going downhill. Its important to know who you are, and be content with who you are, so that you don't let the low times change who you are. Remember a time when you knew what you knew for certain, when you were at peace with life, and try to be that person even in the midst of all the bad stuff. Contentment is more a state of mind than liking your circumstances.
SO, I say this: look for the simple pleasures in life, enjoy yourself as much as possible, laugh whenever you can and cry if you need to, but always remember who you are, and don't let the world make you something you didn't want to be.... oh and thanks for the last two verses by the way big_smile
Anyhow, here's the song in a more organized format:

Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.

And eventually I'd like to have a solo somewhere in there, you know for an instrumental break. Something deep and swampy, but not TOO countryish....

You know I find that even with a 'real clunker', I've still made some kind of progress with my writing, like maybe even though the song wasn't all that good, maybe I gained experience and skill from something.... like when I draw a picture and shade it all wrong and I get mad cuz I finally had the hands perfect....
I try to take each song as a step forward, maybe it didn't sound great, but maybe I picked up on words that sound good together, or found a new rythym, or maybe even turned out a couple of good lines for future use.
Rome wasn't built in a day, they had to learn how to use a hammer and nails first! (well maybe stone and mortar? or sumthin... anyway you get the point. You've gotta know how to build the birdhouse before you can build a cathedral).
Take it easy (which means something like 'take care') big_smile,

Reminds me of 'picture from life's other side' jets smile
I love it when a song can take you back, or off somewhere, like everytime I hear 'country state of mind' I think about my old swimmin' hole and the days I spent leaned back with a cane pole.....
anyhoo, nice idea and nice song jets big_smile,

Ah I see you play guitar hero, well friend, prepare to completely ignore and forget anything you might have assumed you'd learned from the game (although it's pretty fun I'll admit)...
Learn some chords and basic scales (look under resources link, or under the category songs under miscalaneous)....
Get yourself some kind of chord chart, read some of the earlier posts about reading tablature and look at the public books under 'easy'... and don't give up! Learning takes lots of time. Do you know anybody who plays???

speaking of fingertips.... yesterday our church did a christmas thing at the nursing home and I had to play for a solid hour and a half non stop, and I did okay till I took my fingers OFF the fretboard, then when they moved back to thier normal shape it hurt like a son of a gun, I mean they were throbbing terrible bad.... but then this morning they felt fine. Is this good or bad for your callouses I wonder, (not that I really had a choice), I usually quit when they start hurting too bad and let em have a rest. Maybe the doc has some good advice at how long you oughta play?

This is from Guitar World magazine, an interview with guitar legend Billy Gibbons:

GW- If you only had $100 to spend on an ax, what would you buy and why?

Billy-I'd be willin' to throw down a "C" on any solidbody outfitted with a rear-position pickup. Don't even have to work. Grocery sack for a case, some spare change for a couple of Radio Shack leads and a furious fuzz box. Killer combo for your stack of greenbacks....

   Maybe that helps???

My vision blurs
my speech slurs
cause that’s what we
do when everythin’ hurts

  Thats my fav!

a martin D-35 (thats the 'johnny cash'), OR an original framed Hank Williams 78 signed by the blues man himself, but I'm not sure if those even exist.......
But what realistically I want this christmas is to get to go back home to Seedtick for a few days and spend some time around the campfire with my friends and kin folks laughing and cutting up and forgetting its supposed to be a formal holiday.

Well doc, being a christian myself, I would define a 'new born' christian as anybody of any denomination who has had a personal salvation and relationship with Jesus Christ. Diffferent denominations work for different kinds of people, I've got friends in methodist, presbytyrians, baptists, pentecosts, non denominationals. Each one has thier own specific personality, as do people, so they like to go with one that matches them. I can get along with anbody as long as they don't start making up thier own rules lol The commandments in the Bible are hard enough to live up to without them tacking on extras.... as for religions, its pretty much like eagleye says  if there's something you want to worship come to America. Its the whole 'religious freedom' thing thats stuck so far in our craw. Its got its pros and cons, but hey to each his own.

Oh yeah and my favortie christmas song... its not one you're probly familiar with, but theres an old gospel song called simply 'amen' that we song around christmas. 'See the baby Jesus' then the congregation echoes 'A-a-amen' then 'Lyin' in the manger...' echo 'a-a-amen' and so and so forth. It sounds like a blues song smile
