A quick and sloppy try at how I heard Jim's song.

I liked it Zurf, you performed it really well.  I liked it with the talking and blues style,  very effective, you had the right type of voice for it as well.  I think TIGLJK will be very pleased with your attempt as his song.  Great song Jim smile

you should do more ``quick and sloppy``it turned out great, its a style i think tig would do well.

Zurf
some fantastic picking on these covers,im envious!

Someone should write a song about "Tomorrow I'll buy flowers and go without whiskey"  or vice versa, as the case may be.

i like that idea Zurf may have a crack at that.

i know my recording is pretty slap dash(as is everything else)but i dont have a prob hearing the lyric when
i play them back.perhaps this is because i kinda know what im saying?
someone once said i had too much reverb, once again ive never heard this on my playback.
i dont know whats going on,be good if my mistakes were confirmed by a few more, then i could address them all.
thanks for having a listen.

a quicky for song of mth
i may not be a free man much longer, due to murdering a banjo and assaulting a recording device.
threw in a few mistakes just to keep it real, best listened to after a few drinks.you have been warned!

That sentence is not my words  but it helped to write the song.
May enter this in the uksongwriting contest I've got about 5 songs to enter if I  add this one.

Trevor

good on you entering this in a comp, you just never know.
on song of mth,you must have list of original songs  from which to select that would fit the bill each mth?

well spotted,  as usual i haven`t a clue where this stuff comes from, but yes i did read Bernard Cornwell recently.
thought it also applies in a recent context.I added friendly fire to make it less predictable.

I found him by the river
in the early morn
his blood soaked clothes
from a gaping wound
i stripped his shirt
and dressed the wound
the best that i could
but to no avail
he passed  that afternoon
said he`d marched all night
and carried a flag held high
served his country with pride
but from friendly fire he die
sadly another life lost
in the pursuit of what

this started as a song but i`ve kept as a poem as i wouldn`t know how to tell this story with music.

I missed April so I didn't want to miss May as well.

I was at a "barn" jam Monday night. It's quite literally a barn that this fellow turned into a huge music room; complete with a bar, a stage, and all the sound equipment you could ask for. He does this every 6-8 weeks. He's in the process of installing a kitchen and bathroom also. The only thing missing is the animals. Lol! The lighting is very subdued so the quality is a bit lacking but it a great setting for an open jam.

So here is my rendition of Eric Clapton's "Promises." On stage with me is Paul on the harmonica, Jerry on the box drum, and our host Frank on the bass.

Lord Byron, sorry Brian!!!! Just like Jan I also smiled all the way through and lol on several parts, fluffy clouds and non-fluffy clouds? It put me in mind of deck of cards, not rap but telling a story, although you missed out snow...come on you can't live in a country renowned for mountains and not mention snow!

Sir Phill
i`ll let you in on a secret,im not really an expert on weather.
You should hear the character assassinations i do to people on their birthdays in this style.
thank goodness friends have taken it so well, although i have received a few kicks up the arse.

I've been writing a song which has both days and numbers in it; I'll get a wriggle on and finish it, but tentative title is "Today is the day"; about how we need to change our habits or the world will (essentially) end. I'll finish it off and post it up.

Cheers

Richard

Whoops on the songwriting post i just asked when you were going to do a song,
