Here's the finished playlist. I don't know the names of all the songs so most of them still have a number issued by the camera. The lowest numbers are early in the day. So progressing from lowest to highest you go from early afternoon through the late evening but they're not laid out that way in the playlist.

I created a playlist here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ0sYkt … 59fEMgjOPW

I'll be adding to it as I get a chance.

Thanks Amy. That came out better than I thought it would, being as tired as we all were. It's early in the month so I may still do a solo version.

However, like old friends who've known one another forever, Joe and I stayed up chatting.  And chatting.  And chatting.  Then I mentioned, since I had to get up in the morning to work for an hour, that I should probably try to get a few hours of sleep.  We figured it was around 3 AM.  I looked at the time, and it was 5 AM!  Holy smokes!  smile  I had to get up in an hour!  Ha!

Yep. That really took me by surprise. I haven't pulled an all-nighter in 25 years. Amy went to bed and I just turned off the lights and passed out on the couch. The door opening woke me up and I assumed it was her leaving to go outside and get a better signal. Nope. She was coming in after finishing her work duties; somewhere around 8:30 I believe. I never heard her leave.

I REALLY need to have others around more to jam with!  It was a great experience.

It really does make a big difference. Scott is miles ahead of me in his abilities and it's helped me progress more than I ever would have by doing it alone.

Joe and Scott's singing has come a long way in the past year, Jim's playing has improved, Steph's gotten amazing, and I... well... I enjoyed all of it!  Ha ha!

Thanks. We've been pushing each other this past year to sing more. I guess like anything else, the more you practice the better you become. We still have a loooong way to go and will keep at it.

I noticed a BIG improvement in Jim's playing when I was in NY in August.
Jim, I know you do more reading here than posting. If I may, I'd like to make a suggestion for your practice sessions. Since you followed me in the line-up I spent some time watching you. You have a tendency to "step" into the chords. By that I mean you put one or two fingers down on the strings at a time until you have the whole chord. I think it's normal when folks first set out to learn. I remember doing it. Work on landing on the chord in one step. Once you can grab a chord in one shot you'll be amazed at the difference in the sound and how much faster you can change from one chord to the next.

And Steph!  Holy smokes! She picked up the uke in August and by October... I can't hardly believe how quickly she's taken to it.

Joe, should you decide to, we'd be thrilled to join you for a "camp work party" in the spring to help with the addition, general clean up, or whatever.  You've got a great little place there, and we look forward to many more trips - rain or shine!

I do feel a little more comfortable with that idea than I did this past spring. Jim came up with some great ideas for the inside that never even occurred to me. I'm looking forward to further exploring some of them.

Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound.

We haven't had rain in these parts since July. So Mother Nature decided that it was time to rectify that situation this weekend. It actually started raining Wednesday night and and continued, off and on, right through Sunday morning with a light, all day, soaking rain on Saturday. Needless to say we were confined to the indoors the whole time. All the local folks except 2 bailed out.  It did not however, dampen our spirits.

There were 8 of us total and it turned out to be a very intimate gathering. We packed ourselves into a 14'x16' room and had a great time. Between Amy and I there's somewhere  around 60 videos. It's going to take some time to go through and process them all. But for now, here are a couple that didn't require any editing.

MKM with Katie (one of me kids) doing "The Last Unicorn".

And here is Jeff, one of the local folks, with his Taylor 900 series, doing the Styx song "Come Sail Away" in a finger picking style.

ujb you sound pretty good to me a little fast. It s hard too do Van Morrison he is some jazz, rock, folk etc. He is also my favorite singer he has such a great Power voice. You might also try his song     And it stoned me, it only has a few easy chords and is a great tune,.

Thanks Dino. It didn't start out that fast. Over the course of the last couple months it sort of drifted there. You're right about Morrison's voice. He can really belt it out. We went through "It Stoned Me" a couple times one day but didn't pursue it.

I like Van Morrison`s music too .......... you guys look like your having fun doing it .......... the harmonica sounded great with it.

Thanks Jan. That day was the first time Ted (with the harp) sat in with us. I wish he would have played a little more than he did. It fit right in but I think he was concerned about over doing it his first time out.

Maybe I can catch up with you in Florida in March.

It's ALMOST TIME!!!!   So far, I'm supposed to still work for ONE hour early Saturday morning.  So, hopefully I can get a decent enough mobile internet connection in the closest tiny little town to be able to use my phone as a mobile hotspot.

I was up there with my electrician friend Mike yesterday and today figuring out where to run electric wiring next. Nothing will be done for this weekend but I'd like to be able to insulate the addition before winter sets in and that means getting the wire work done first. He was using his phone as a hotspot. He found that as long as he was outside it worked fairly well. Inside, not so much.
BTW. Have Jim tell his boss that I'm giving my approval for him to work a half day on Friday so you guys can get on the road sooner. smile

Anything else you need or want us to bring along, Joe?

Not that I can think of.

Zurf, you're gonna be there right?

?????????????????

Anyone else able to make it?  The leaves are starting to turn here in NY, so it should be quite beautiful at the camp!  Crisp fall mornings, guitar picking, friendship, fun.  smile  I'm excited!!!

A Van Morrison cover that Scott and I have been working on. Not quite there yet but it's getting close. Had a fellow stop by with his harps that night. He didn't play much but when he did, it sounded pretty good.

12 strings are like mandolins in a way.  You're going to spend half your time tuning, and the other half of your time playing out of tune.

I must be lucky with my old Alvarez 12er. The only problem I have is the high G. The rest stay in tune quite well.

Nice job!

Yep. Remember it well. It was the first 45rpm I ever bought, at a place called Tri-State. It was a fairly large, 2 floor variety store. Nothing like Wally World is now but back in the day it was a pretty big in a small Pa town. A set of 10-12 concrete steps lead you to the front door. Walk in and the LP's were along the wall immediately on your right. About halfway back the wall the 45's started. If you turned left when you walked in you would walk past the only cash register and came upon a huge tube section with a tube tester in the middle of it all.
I was getting ready to start 9th grade, which was considered high school at that time. Big changes coming. I was going to have to start moving from one classroom to another instead of having the teachers doing the shifting around.

Yep. I remember that song and a lot that was associated with it vividly. I can't remember the last time I thought of those things. Thanks for stimulating my memory. smile

That's the first thing that came to me as well.

I was going through the YouTube channel from last years get together in Pa. and came across another version of CoNO.

And don't forget about this year in Pa. Coming up in a couple weeks.

I put new strings on the Martin about every 3 months. I changed them right before I went to NY for Amy's Backyard Get Together and I'll be changing them again in a couple weeks so their fresh for the Pa Get Together. I typically use John Pierce PB lights but I picked up a 10-pack of Martin PB light's last winter for $30 so I'm using those right now. They don't seem to retain their brilliance as long as the John Pierce.

Hi UJ, nice bit of jamming and could see where the vocal could fit. But typical me I could also hear drums and bass. Good grooving let us know when it's finished.

Thanks Phill. We've been thinking about a bass. Scott contacted a bass player last week from an ad he saw on craigslist. Turns out that right after he placed the ad, the engine in his car blew. He said he would get back to Scott when he gets that little problem taken care of.

In my humble opinion it's a great instrumental and doesn't need lyrics. Scott really works hard and should be a contender for the Flying Fingers feature. It's a great tune to jam to, I could imagine a banjo in there. Ps, this is the first time I've come across vimeo.

I'm leaning towards an instrumental too. And you're right. A banjo would add an interesting twist. Unfortunately we don't know any banjo players.

Scott isn't satisfied with the leads in the second section. He's working on it this week and we'll work on it again on Sunday.

I use Vimeo for things I don't want to put on one of my two YouTube pages. There is a 180 minute limit on content unless you buy in to Vimeo Pro.

I was just fooling around last week and came up with a chord progression the I liked the sound of. I went over to Scott's (my playing partner) on Sunday and played it for him. He added another section to it and this is what we came up with. This is the third take and I edited out the flubs. Not sure where it's going yet, maybe just an instrumental piece but who knows.

Just thought I'd share it with my Chordie family.

Cute little fire. But I think you need a bit of instruction on campfire building from MKM and MKD.

Here is our fire from the Backyard Gathering in NY in August of '15.
